Describe what else may have been learned from the interview. End the conclusion with general comments about the selection of an interviewee and whether the interview developed a clearer idea as to what to expect from graduate education.

Wellness Education Program

Develop a 5–7-page proposal for a wellness education program for a specific population. Integrate aspects of culture, CAM and spirituality, and linguistics into the program. Explain how to market the program to the population, and explain the ethical, legal, and economic factors that can affect the health of the population.

Preparation

Your team has succeeded in demonstrating the need for a health promotion and disease prevention initiative for the population identified by your Windshield Survey assessment. Now you need to develop a proposal for a wellness education program that will help bridge the gaps in health care service delivery.

Use the Capella library and the Internet to find scholarly and professional resources that will help you propose a wellness education program for the health concern of your population. Find at least four resources to use in this assessment. You may also want to review the previous assessments you completed in this course.

Requirements

Based on your Windshield Survey and Organizational Evaluation assessments, complete the following:

· Design an evidence-based wellness program to address the primary health concern of the population that integrates:

o Cultural considerations: Will you need to consult with someone from the population on how to approach the delivery of your program?

o CAM, traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality considerations.

o Linguistic considerations: Will you need interpreters or translators for either written or oral presentations?

o Educational considerations: What will be the best way to educate the population?

· Describe how you will market or advertise the wellness program.

o What are the benefits the program offers the population?

o Will you need incentives to ensure participation and completion of the program?

· Explain the ethical, legal, and economic factors that impact the health and wellness of the population. For example:

o The ethical considerations (such as justice, non-malfeasance, and duty) that can affect preventative care and health promotion.

o Local laws, federal laws, and the Affordable Health Care Act that can affect preventative care and health promotion.

o The potential economic impact of clinical prevention and health promotion related to health disparities of your population.

The format for this assessment should be a professional proposal. If possible, ask about the format used for proposals in your organization and follow that. Follow APA formatting for your in-text citations and references.

Additional Requirements

· Include a title page and reference page. The completed assessment should be 5–7 pages in length, not including a title page and a reference page.

· Reference at least four current scholarly or professional resources.

· Use current APA format for citations and references.

· Use Times New Roman font, 12 point.

· Double space.

Attached is an example of a well graded paper for this assignment to use as a reference.

SEPTIC SHOCK

In order to undertake this 1500 word essay you will need to research the topic using current and relevant peer reviewed literature and review of:  The lecture and tutorial material associated with the relevant topic.  Your knowledge and understanding related to:

1. The physiology and pathophysiology of the primary diagnosis and associated clinical data identified within the chosen case study;

2. The physiological assessments relevant to the features within the case study. The assessment tasks requires you to:

1. Identify and discuss two (2) signs or symptoms of clinical deterioration associated with the presenting problem, from chosen case study. This discussion should consider the potential impact of case study data (e.g. pathology results, past medical history) on the health status of the patient in the chosen case.

2. Following on from your presented discussion associated with point one (1), develop a clinical plan of care which identifies:  One (1) priority of clinical care and;

Discuss three (3) nursing interventions that directly address the identified clinical priority. The discussion should refer to relevant clinical assessments. Measurable outcome parameters for each intervention will be discussed to justify the intervention and evaluate its efficacy. Discussion is to be supported with contemporary research

Trans cultural Assessment

Purpose

The purpose of the Course Project is to give the student the opportunity to apply concepts in transcultural nursing by performing a transcultural nursing assessment.

The purpose of Milestone 1 is to identify an adult who is not a relative who is willing to participate in the transcultural assessment and to secure the instructor’s approval for the assessment. Note: The actual assessment does not occur until Milestone 3. It is not a purpose for this assignment.

Course Outcomes

CO1: Identify theories, concepts, and beliefs related to transcultural nursing. (PO1)

CO2: Communicate effectively with culturally diverse individuals, families, and organizations. (PO3)

CO4: Perform a culturally competent nursing assessment. (PO7)

Points

The entire project is worth 600 points. Milestone 1 is worth 100 points of this total.

Due Dates

You are to submit your completed NR394 Milestone 1 by Sunday, 11:59 p.m. MT, at the end of Week 3.

Requirements and Guidelines

1. Review the Course Outcomes for this assignment, which are listed above.

2. Review the guidelines for Milestones 1, 2, and 3, paying particular attention to Milestone 1 for this assignment. The guidelines for all of the Milestones are located in Modules on the left-hand navigation menu. Also, read the Course Project Overview page in Introduction & Resources for more details and helpful tips.

3. Identify a potential individual who has been living in a culture other than the one of origin for at least 2 years. This individual must be born outside the United States.

The individual can be a patient, friend, or colleague, such as a physician, or acquaintance, but cannot be a relative. The individual must be living in your community and must be currently receiving or have previously received healthcare services in your community. The individual’s race, ethnicity, language, religion, and culturally based beliefs about healthcare and illness should be quite different from yours.

The individual must speak your language. An interpreter is not permitted for the actual assessment, which occurs in Milestone 3 (Week 6).

Note: This is the same individual for whom you will develop verbal assessment questions in Milestone 2 and whom you will ask those questions in Milestone 3 and then reflect on your learning about the Course Project and the assessment.

4. Individuals can come from a variety of settings. Recent immigrants, migrant workers, exchange students, international students, long-term care residents, refugees, coworkers, physicians, patients, employees at local ethnic businesses, religious venues, community centers, and individuals who have recently moved to your community are some suggestions.

The individual does not need to be a healthcare worker but must have received healthcare services in the country of origin as well as since arriving in the United States. Work with your instructor prior to submitting Milestone 1. Approval must be provided by your instructor before submitting Milestone 1 (this assignment).

5. Speak with the individual, and obtain permission to conduct an assessment later in the course. Clearly explain that statements made in the assessment will be recorded (written) and submitted to the instructor only. It is not intended for public distribution. Anonymity will be maintained by using first and last initials only. Do not use names in any of your documents.

6. Download the NR394_Individual_Profile_Template (Links to an external site.). LEARNED BEHAVIOR DURING THE FIRST OF INFANCY

The growth, development, and learned behaviors that occur during the first year of infancy have a direct effect on the individual throughout a lifetime.

For this assignment, research an environmental factor that poses a threat to the health or safety of infants and develop a health promotion that can be presented to caregivers.

Create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint health promotion, with speaker notes, that outlines a teaching plan.

For the presentation of your PowerPoint, use Loom to create a voice over or a video. Include an additional slide for the Loom link at the beginning, and an additional slide for references at the end.

Include the following in your presentation:

  1. Describe the selected environmental factor. Explain how the environmental factor you selected can potentially affect the health or safety of infants.
  2. Create a health promotion plan that can be presented to caregivers to address the environmental factor and improve the overall health and well-being of infants.
  3. Offer recommendations on accident prevention and safety promotion as they relate to the selected environmental factor and the health or safety of infants.
  4. Offer examples, interventions, and suggestions from evidence-based research. At least three scholarly resources are required. Two of the three resources must be peer-reviewed and no more than 6 years old.
  5. Provide readers with two community resources, a national resource, and a Web-based resource. Include a brief description and contact information for each resource.
  6. In developing your PowerPoint, take into consideration the health care literacy level of your target audience, as well as the demographic of the caregiver/patient (socioeconomic level, language, culture, and any other relevant characteristic of the caregiver) for which the presentation is tailored

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.

HISTORY AND PROCESS OF NURSING RESEARCH

The first step of the evidence‐based practice process is to evaluate a nursing practice environment to identify a nursing problem in the clinical area. When a nursing problem is discovered, the nurse researcher develops a clinical guiding question to address that nursing practice problem.

For this assignment, you will create a clinical guiding question know as a PICOT question. The PICOT question must be relevant to a nursing practice problem.

To support your PICOT question, identify six supporting peer‐revised research articles, as indicated below. The PICOT question and six peer‐reviewed research articles you choose will be utilized for subsequent assignments.

Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” to complete this assignment (see attached document).

1. Select a nursing practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research (Infection control). Start with the patient population (Hospital, medical surgical unit) and identify a clinical problem or issue that arises from the patient population (nosocomial infections). In 200–250 words, provide a summary of the clinical issue.

2. Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT question in your selected nursing practice problem area of interest. The PICOT question should be applicable to your proposed capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN‐BSN program of study).

3. The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project.

4. Conduct a literature search to locate six research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem of interest. This literature search should include three quantitative and three qualitative peer‐reviewed research articles to support your nursing practice problem.

Note: To assist in your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example: Search for diabetes and pediatric and dialysis.

To determine what research design was used in the articles the search produced, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will provide a description of data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods.

Systematic Reviews, Literature Reviews, and Metanalysis articles are good resources and provide a strong level of evidence but are not considered primary research articles.  Therefore, they should not be included in this assignment.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources (minimum 6) should be presented using APA formatting guidelines.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Continuum and Coordination of Health Care

As a graduate student and health care administrator, you must be able to research a critical issue or situation and present your findings in a compelling manner. For this Assignment, as well as this module’s Discussion, you will examine the continuum of care a patient may need and research the services available in your area to support the patient.

Note: During the Module 3 Discussion, you will share some of the information for this Assignment with your colleagues.

To develop the content for your presentation, record detailed notes as you complete the following steps.

  • Review the information about the continuum and coordination of health services presented in the Learning Resources, including the HIMSS resource, Continuum of Care, and the tables in Chapter 1 of the course text.
  • Develop a brief description of a hypothetical adult patient who has a serious health problem or injury. Imagine this patient lives in your local area. If you are an international student, you may choose a geographic area in the United States or use your own location.
  • Use the pertinent information in Chapters 7, 8, 9, and/or 10 of the Shi & Singh textbook and conduct additional research of your own to analyze specific services your hypothetical patient might need, beginning with the onset or diagnosis of an illness or injury and concluding with an end-point of your choosing (i.e., recovery, symptom management, end of life). Also research the types of organizations that provide those services.
  • Investigate the health care organizations in your local area. Based on the services your hypothetical patient needs, select four or five actual settings in which he/she would receive care.
  • Next, gather information related to the types of insurance from which each organization accepts payment. Typically, this would include Medicare, Medicaid, and various types of insurance programs. What challenges do you anticipate your patient may have related to payment for services?
  • Review the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (2014) resource and consider what it means for health care to be safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. Analyze how the scenario you have created—with your hypothetical patient receiving services from actual settings in your geographic area—illustrates positive or negative attributes related to two or more of the six Institute of Medicine aims.
  • Next, prepare to create your presentation using PowerPoint. Examine the Presentation Guidelines and Tips and the Module 3 Assignment Template, both found in this module’s Learning Resources.

The Assignment

Download and save the Module 3 Assignment Template, found in this module’s Learning Resources. Use the template to create a succinct and engaging PowerPoint presentation. Include the following:

  • Title slide
  • Introduction slide
  • 7–9 slides* in which you:
    • Introduce the patient, health problem/injury, and geographic area.
    • Describe the continuum of care, including specific services from four or five actual settings in your local area.
    • Describe a potential challenge related to payment for services this patient may encounter.
    • Explain how this example illustrates positive or negative attributes related to two or more of the six Institute of Medicine (IOM) aims.
  • Sources slide*
    • List all resources (a minimum of 4) used to develop your presentation.

*Apply the design principles included in Presentation Guidelines and Tips to develop a professional presentation.

  • On your content slides, use a combination of text, photos, graphs, maps, links to websites, color contrasts, and/or other visual elements to convey the information.
  • Create presenter notes of a few sentences to accompany each slide in a way that supports (rather than duplicates) the information presented visually.

Your presentation must be written in standard edited English. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this module’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. See the rubric in the Course Information area for additional requirements related to research and scholarly writing/presentation.

Using Microsoft Project

Starting a project without a plan is like going on a road trip without any directions. You may progress along the way, but you might not end up at your desired destination.

A project plan provides basic information that guides the execution and control of the project. At its most fundamental level, a project plan will describe the “who, what, when, and why” of a project. Microsoft Project is one of the most widely used project planning tools.

The ability to understand and create project plans in Microsoft Project enables a project manager to effectively plan and manage project implementations.

In this Assignment, you generate a project plan using Microsoft Project.

To prepare:

  • Review the information in this week’s Learning Resources on using Microsoft Project.
  • Consider how to efficiently schedule tasks in a project plan.
  • Think about how you should sequence tasks that have dependencies.

To complete this Assignment, you will create a Microsoft Project plan for a patient information management system. The primary deliverable for the plan is the patient information management system itself, but it is comprised of many modules. Include the following tasks, subtasks, and timeframes:

1) Create the Admission, Discharge, and Transfer Module (requires subtask I, configuration period: 25 days, training period: 10 days)

2) Subtask I: Create the Patient Registration Module (requires subtask II, configuration period: 4 days, training period: 4 days)

3) Subtask II: Create the Master Patient Index (configuration period: 4 days)

4) Subtask III: Create the Patient Scheduling Module (requires subtask II, configuration period: 7 days, training period: 15 days)
