Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, MINIMUM OF 3 REFERENCES PLEASE.

Case Study: Healing and Autonomy

Mike and Joanne are the parents of James and Samuel, identical twins born eight years ago. James is currently suffering from acute glomerulonephritis, kidney failure. James was originally brought into the hospital for complications associated with a strep throat infection. The spread of the A streptococcus infection led to the subsequent kidney failure. James’ condition was acute enough to warrant immediate treatment. Usually cases of acute glomerulonephritis caused by strep infection tend to improve on their own, or with an antibiotic. However, James also had elevated blood pressure and enough fluid buildup that required temporary dialysis to relieve.

The attending physician suggested immediate dialysis. After some time of discussion with Joanne, Mike informs the physician that they are going to forego the dialysis and place their faith in God. Mike and Joanne had been moved by a sermon their pastor had given a week ago, and also had witnessed a close friend regain mobility when she was prayed over at a healing service after a serious stroke. They thought it more prudent to take James immediately to a faith healing service instead of putting James through multiple rounds of dialysis. Yet Mike and Joanne agreed to return to the hospital after the faith healing services later in the week, and in hopes that James would be healed by then.

Two days later the family returned, and was forced to place James on dialysis, as his condition had deteriorated. Mike felt perplexed and tormented by his decision to not treat James earlier. Had he not enough faith? Was God punishing him or James? To make matters worse, James kidneys had deteriorated such that his dialysis was now not a temporary matter, and was in need of a kidney transplant. Crushed and desperate, Mike and Joanne immediately offered to donate one of their own kidneys to James, but they were not compatible donors. Over the next few weeks, amidst daily rounds of dialysis, some of their close friends and church members also offered to donate a kidney to James. However, none of them were tissue matches.

James’ nephrologist called to schedule a private appointment with Mike and Joanne. James was stable, given the regular dialysis, but would require a kidney transplant within the year. Given the desperate situation, the nephrologist informed Mike and Joanne of a donor that was an ideal tissue match, but as of yet had not been considered—James’ brother Samuel.

Mike vacillates and struggles to decide whether he should have his other son Samuel lose a kidney, or perhaps wait for God to do a miracle this time around. Perhaps this is where the real testing of his faith will come in? “This time around, it is a matter of life and death, what could require greater faith than that?” Mike reasons.

Ethical decision making model process to determine the ethics of the term paper service

Question Description

Term papers on practically every subject imaginable are available on the Internet. Many of those who submit the papers as their own work defend their practice in Various ways: (1) These papers are posted to assist in research in the same way any other resource is posted on the Web and should simply be cited if used; (2) these papers are posted in order to encourage faculty to modify paper topics and/or exams and not to simply bring back assignments that have been used countless times in the past, (3) they don’t have time to complete a paper and since they have paid for the course they have in effect paid for the degree, and (4) if the professor doesn’t “catch” them what harm has been done?

Are you persuaded?

Write a 2-3 page, APA style paper addressing the above issues while answering the following:

  1. Is there anything unethical about this service in general?
  2. If so, who should be held accountable, the poster, the ultimate user (student), the professor, the university, or someone else?

Use the ethical decision making model process to determine the ethics of the term paper service.

Provide 3-5 APA style references both inline and at the end of the paper to support your analysis. Note: This is your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the week’s theory linked to personal opinion and outside evidence.

Connection to nursing science and nursing's major philosophical concepts

PDR-242476 Philosphical perspective with the DNP role Objective: The purpose of the next 2-weeks is to develop a personal nursing philosophy from the perspective as a DNP. Written Assignment: Personal Philosophy Paper: Develop a short (4-6 page) paper excluding a title page and references. The aim of this paper is to develop your nursing philosophical perspective with the DNP role. The first part of your paper will define your nursing philosophy using the concepts of the nursing metaparadigm. The last part of the paper demonstrates how attainment of the DNP reflects your nursing philosophy related to a theorist/theory. A stellar paper (an A paper) clearly demonstrates that a nursing philosophical framework provides the framework for attaining the DNP. Incorporating a nursing theorist is not required unless your philosophy of nursing includes one and you believe it adds or is essential to completing the DNP. A clear connection to nursing science and nursing’s major philosophical concepts (person, environment, caring, health, nursing, transitions, other) is required. The paper should demonstrate a level of comfort or fluency with the subject matter. A stellar paper is well organized, fluid, a joy to read, without spelling or grammatical errors and within the page range (title page, references do not count). Be careful with overuse of first person as well as “this author”. This is a paper that is about your personal perspective, but stellar papers will convey a sense of personal perspective and will avoid the use of “I or me” (first person and “this author”). Accurate use of APA 6th ed. format is expected. Concepts that demonstrate professionalism in nursing practice

Professionalism in Nursing

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW:
Story telling and narratives are an effective way to gain an awareness or insight into personal knowing by considering the experiences of individuals. “Narrative helps us to hear the hearts of the persons who come to our care as well as helps us hear our own hearts.” (Nisker, 2004, p. 294).
This assignment requires you to explore concepts that exemplify professionalism in nursing practice by reading stories written by Tilda Shalof, a Registered Nurse. Below you will find a list of examples of some concepts that are considered part of professional nursing practice.
Responsibility Accountability Advocacy
Professional Caring Respect Privacy
Truthfulness Client well-being Knowledge
Leadership Therapeutic Nurse-Client Relationship Mutuality
Person-centered care

This assignment will enable students to:
1. Identify and describe concepts that demonstrate professionalism in nursing practice.
2. Using examples from the book identify 3 concepts that are part of professionalism in nursing practice and describe what they mean according to relevant nursing literature.
3. Develop the ability to express thoughts and ideas in written scholarly format, consistent with the criteria for academic scholarly papers. Refer to the BScN Program Handbook Guidelines for Grading Scholarly Papers
