The importance of business ethics vs. social responsibility

New changes in healthcare are causing rising concerns with how healthcare organizations may be performing. With that being stated, you will focus on the following areas as to explain and evaluate operational performance and market trends in this 21st-century healthcare dynamics.

Create a 2-4 page detailed research paper that provides at least 1-3 or more examples or explanations that will address the following healthcare issues:

  1. Examine the importance of business ethics vs. social responsibility.    Ex. Developing codes of conduct that is adverse to corporate social responsibility.
  2. Compare and Contrast the use of data analytics in a data-driven society without the use of a proper IT software program to collect business intelligence.    Ex. Some providers are not using current and more applicable software programs to analyze their data; instead, they are relying on memory and checking hard copies folders to analyze patient outcomes.
  3. Explain the gap in making decisions and the validity of healthcare trends on performance without the correct data. Ex. Lack of using EMR or EHR may cause gaps in decision-making and accuracy of collecting appropriate data, which may subsequently impact performances and trends.
  4. Explained 2 importance business ethics vs. social responsibility occurrences. Provided 2 examples of business ethics vs social responsibility in a healthcare organization. Compared and contrasted 2 uses of data analytics, without a proper IT program to collect business intelligence. Provided 2 examples of data analytics use or business intelligence in a healthcare organization.Explained 2 gaps in making healthcare decision and its impact on performance. List 2 example of how a healthcare organization performance is impacted.

Deficiencies that may exist in the organization’s patient engagement and communications strategies

Evaluate the cultural competence of the healthcare organization presented in the Integrated Safety-Net Health Care System case study using a population health approach. Please also read the supplemental Interpreting Services Program document to ensure that you have all of the information about the Montefiore Medical Center you will need to address the critical elements.

Specifically the following critical elements must be addressed:

I. Patient engagement activities and communication strategies

a) Critique the organization’s translation and interpretation services that may be available to non-English-speaking patients. In other words, does

the organization provide such services? How many different languages are supported? How might the organization communicate with a speaker

of a language that is not supported? Be sure to provide evidence that supports your claims.

b) Analyze the extent to which educational resources and materials are available in languages other than English. Be sure to provide specific

examples.

c) Assess organizational staff training on patient engagement and communications for its potential to foster cultural competence. Be sure to provide

evidence to support your claims.

d) Identify gaps or deficiencies that may exist in the organization’s patient engagement and communications strategies, and provide evidence to

support your claims. If you feel there are none, be sure to explain your reasoning.

Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment

Throughout this course you will be developing a formal, evidence-based practice proposal.

The proposal is the plan for an evidence-based practice project designed to address a problem, issue, or concern in the professional work setting. Although several types of evidence can be used to support a proposed solution, a sufficient and compelling base of support from valid research studies is required as the major component of that evidence. Proposals are submitted in a format suitable for obtaining formal approval in the work setting. Proposals will vary in length depending upon the problem or issue addressed; they can be between 3,500 and 5,000 words. The cover sheet, abstract, references page, and appendices are not included in the word limit.

Section headings and letters for each section component are required. Responses are addressed in narrative form in relation to that number. Evaluation of the proposal in all sections is based upon the extent to which the depth of content reflects graduate-level critical-thinking skills.

This project contains seven formal sections:

  1. Section A: Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment
  2. Section B: Problem Description
  3. Section C: Literature Support
  4. Section D: Solution Description
  5. Section E: Change Model
  6. Section F: Implementation Plan
  7. Section G: Evaluation of Process

Each section (A-G) will be submitted as separate assignments so your instructor can provide feedback (refer to applicable modules for further descriptions of each section).

The final paper will consist of the completed project (with revisions to all sections), title page, abstract, reference list, and appendices. Appendices will include a conceptual model for the project, handouts, data and evaluation collection tools, a budget, a timeline, resource lists, and approval forms.

Use the “NUR-699 EBP Implementation Plan Guide” and “NUR-699 Evidence-Based Practice Project Student Example” to assist you. Also refer to “NUR-699 Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal Format.”

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Management In Healthcare Organization

Medication error in a selected healthcare facility such as providing the wrong dosage of medication or the wrong medication to a patient. A bow-tie analysis places the critical incident at the center of the framework and identifies in graphic format the root cause leading up to the incident on the left side of the critical incident. On the right side of the incident, key preventive measures are graphically represented. In one image, you will capture the incident (at the center), the causes for failure in quality, and (on the right) preventive measures a manager can put in place to stop this failure from happening in the future. The final graphic will appear as a bow-tie.

Articles and resources on the application of a bow-tie analysis have been provided in this week’s readings for the student’s reference.

Title Page

1 page (double spaced) Page should clearly articulate what the critical incident is and provide background.

1 page Page should include the bow-tie analysis

Reference Page (2 references minimum)

Written document should conform to American Psychological Association (APA) 6th Edition

Advocating For New Practice Approaches Through Policy

“I think one’s feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results.”
—Florence Nightingale

Through the policy process, nurses can put their feelings—as well as their experiences and expertise—into actions that create results. In this course, you have been honing your skills for critically assessing evidence with the purpose of improving practice and developing new practice approaches. As a DNP-prepared nurse, you can influence health care outcomes at the population or aggregate level. Leading policy development to address health care concerns is a vital way to achieve this.

For the past several weeks, you have been focusing on a health care issue of interest to you for your EBP Project. For this Discussion, consider how you could lead policy development in support of a proposed evidence-based practice approach that addresses that issue and is designed to promote quality Advocating For New Practice Approaches Through Policy.

Using EBPH to Define and Quantify the Extent of the Public Health Problem

Using EBPH to Define and Quantify the Extent of the Public Health Problem

Note: Your response and comments to this assignment will be laying the foundation for work that you will later complete as part of your final project.

A clear statement of the issue provides a concrete basis for a priority setting process that is objective. This then leads to better program planning, intervention, and evaluation. A fully articulated issue statement includes a complete description of the problem, potential solutions, data sources, and health-related outcomes.

In order to provide a complete description of the problem, the problem must first be quantified. In quantifying the health issue or disease, the application of the appropriate epidemiologic tools is necessary to obtain the answers to certain questions while conducting the community assessment. The community assessment should include the health condition or risk factor being considered, the population affected, the size and scope of the problem, prevention opportunities, and potential stakeholders. This task requires basic epidemiologic skills to obtain additional information about the frequency of the health condition or risk factor in an affected population.

Going back to the public health problem, issue, situation, or concern that you identified for W1: Assignment 3, develop a concise statement of your problem. Your statement must be clear and well-articulated including a description of the problem, potential solutions, data sources, and health-related outcomes. The statement of your problem will serve as the basis for your research purpose or objective, which will be very critical in the application of the evidence-based process which in turn leads to better program planning, program intervention, and program evaluation.

  1. Using the strategies and concepts taught for searching, evaluating, and retrieving EBPH resources and literature, identify five (5) peer-reviewed scientific articles that have information that can be used to quantify the extent of your specific health problem. Ensure that none of these articles are more than 5 years old.
  2. Analyze and evaluate three of the five articles with the intent to quantify the extent of your public health problem, issue, situation, or concern.
  3. Use the epidemiology training and skills from the course to assess the extent of your problem, issue, situation, or concern by identifying and evaluating the risk factors being considered, the population affected, the size and scope of the problem, prevention opportunities, and potential stakeholders from the three peer-reviewed articles.
  4. As part of quantifying the public health condition, obtain the disease rates of the health condition or risk factor in an affected population and analyze and assess if any patterns of the disease exist within subgroups of the defined population.

Utilize assigned and suggested weekly readings, the South University online library, the Internet readings, and references to search, evaluate, and retrieve relevant EBPH literature to support your responses.
