Now that your data is in Excel, you will look at the descriptive statistics for this dataset. Select the data in all the columns except the top that has words for the columns; however you have the file already completed and a picture of the descriptive statistics..See end of page for a copy of the excel sheet and descriptive statistics output.

Discussion Question Part 1

How could you use Excel descriptive statistics for data analysis research? Write about your experience running descriptive statistics. Use the results in the Session Window to support your response. Then add to your discussion with the information you learn writing up your analysis.

Step 3: Excel and Graphs

You will now look at graphing. Select insert graph located at the top of the sheet; highlight the data you want to use for a chart; select the type of chart; select ok. Try using the histogram  feature for one of the variables and select “Ok”. You can create other Histogram graphs by choosing different variables. You can also choose from the other ten graph choices shown on the insert chart function.

Discussion Question Part 2

What are your plans for learning more about Excel and how will the information you learned about this software be of benefit in your future analysis of research data? Copy and paste your graph(s) in a Word document and attach to your discussion response.

Identifying and Engaging Stakeholders for Strategic Planning

Stakeholders can facilitate the success, or failure, of a strategic plan.

Identifying internal and external stakeholders and building productive relationships should be an intentional and well-conceived part of the strategic planning process. As a nurse leader-manager involved in strategic planning, it is important that you consider who could be impacted by a proposed change and how the change may affect individuals’ roles, responsibilities, and relationships. It is also essential to think about which stakeholders may be able to offer expertise, capital, and/or sway to help exercise the strategic plan and generate buy-in.

In this Discussion, you identify stakeholders who can assist with carrying forward a strategic plan.

Your Instructor has assigned you to a small group for this Discussion. Craft your stakeholder description independently; through the collegial exchange that follows, you will offer each other suggestions for refinement. As in Weeks 2 and 3, use this small group Discussion to delve deeply into the concepts being presented as they are foundational to this course.

To prepare:

· Reflect on a planned change effort you have experienced. Consider the following questions:

· How do you think stakeholder involvement may have impacted the outcome of this planned change?

· Were the right stakeholders involved? Did the stakeholders help to carry out the plan as needed?

· Should other stakeholders have been engaged? If so, how could relationships with additional stakeholders have been cultivated to better support the plan?

· How does reflecting on this instance of planned change inform your perspective on what is needed to engage stakeholders to successfully promote other strategic changes?

· Review the Mountain View Health Center case study, and reflect on the focus of your postings in the Week 2 Discussion 2 and the Week 3 Discussion.

· Conduct additional research as necessary to strengthen your understanding of the process of involving stakeholders in strategic planning and to deepen your thinking about the organization. For instance, you may research organizations with similarities to Mountain View, and examine information related to stakeholder involvement.

· Consider the following questions:

· Which internal and external stakeholders should be involved in strategic planning related to this case study?

· What assets and/or perspectives would each of these stakeholders offer to the process?

· What role would each potential stakeholder play in helping to move forward a strategic plan?

· When and how should the stakeholders become involved?

· How would you cultivate relationships with these stakeholders to produce the best possible results?

· How would the appropriate selection of stakeholders and their involvement promote the likelihood of successful adoption and implementation of a strategic plan?

Asthma and Stepwise Management

Assignment: Asthma and Stepwise Management

Asthma is a respiratory disorder that affects children and adults. Advanced practice nurses often provide treatment to patients with these disorders. Sometimes patients require immediate treatment making it essential that you recognize and distinguish minor asthma symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, advanced practice nurses must also help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate management options. Like many other disorders, there are various approaches to treating and managing care for asthmatic patients depending on individual patient factors. One method that supports the clinical decision-making of drug therapy plans for asthmatic patients is the stepwise approach, which you explore in this Assignment.

To prepare:

· Consider drugs used to treat asthmatic patients including long-term control and quick relief treatment options for patients. Think about the impact these drugs might have on patients including adults and children.

· Review Chapter 25 of the Arcangelo and Peterson text. Reflect on using the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management.

· Consider how stepwise management assists health care providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the disease.

Write a 3- to 4- page paper that addresses the following: APA Style with 4-5 references that are less than 5 years old. While writing the paper, remember, all I look for is pharmacodynamics (therapeutic effects, adverse effects, mechanism of action), & pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism & elimination). So make sure to add medications and describe the pharmacodynamics& pharmacokinetics

· Describe long-term control and quick relief treatment options for asthma patients, as well as the impact these drugs might have on patients. Think about the impact these drugs might have on patients including adults and children.

· Explain the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management.

· Explain how stepwise management assists health care providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the disease.

Family Health Assessment

Refer back to the interview and evaluation you conducted in the Topic 2 Family Health Assessment assignment. Identify the social determinates of health (SDOH) contributing to the family’s health status. In a 750-1,000-word paper, create a plan of action to incorporate health promotion strategies for this family. Include the following:

  1. Describe the SDOH that affect the family health status. What is the impact of these SDOH on the family? Discuss why these factors are prevalent for this family.
  2. Based on the information gathered through the family health assessment, recommend age-appropriate screenings for each family member. Provide support and rationale for your suggestions.
  3. Choose a health model to assist in creating a plan of action. Describe the model selected. Discuss the reasons why this health model is the best choice for this family. Provide rationale for your reasoning.
  4. Using the model, outline the steps for a family-centered health promotion. Include strategies for communication.

Cite four peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, An abstract/purpose and conclusion are required.

PICOT Question And Literature Search

The first step of the evidence‐based practice process is to evaluate a nursing practice environment to identify a nursing problem in the clinical area. When a nursing problem is discovered, the nurse researcher develops a clinical guiding question to address that nursing practice problem.

For this assignment, you will create a clinical guiding question know as a PICOT question. The PICOT question must be relevant to a nursing practice problem. To support your PICOT question, identify six supporting peer‐revised research articles, as indicated below. The PICOT question and six peer‐reviewed research articles you choose will be utilized for subsequent assignments.

Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” to complete this assignment.

Select a nursing practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research (use hypertension as a topic/problem). Start with the patient population and identify a clinical problem or issue that arises from the patient population. In 200–250 words, provide a summary of the clinical issue.

Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT question in your selected nursing practice problem area of interest. The PICOT question should be applicable to your proposed capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN‐BSN program of study).

The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project.

Conduct a literature search to locate six research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem of interest. This literature search should include three quantitative and three qualitative peer‐reviewed research articles to support your nursing practice problem.

Foodborne Illness

Case Study 19: Foodborne Illness

Erin C. is a 27-year-old professional woman who describes a recent bout of “the 24-hour flu” she experienced after eating out with friends over the weekend. She reports feeling an upset stomach at work on Monday with an increase in symptoms that developed into severe abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and some bloody diarrhea, continuing into the evening. She called her doctor the next morning and reported what she had eaten the day before she developed symptoms: 2 glasses of wine, broiled rare steak with mushroom sauce, baked potato with sour cream and butter, and an assorted greens salad with oil and vinegar dressing from the salad bar where she was dining with friends. Earlier on that same day, she had eaten leftovers from her refrigerator—a small pork chop, spinach salad, and a glass of milk from a local organic dairy.

  1. Based on information in Table 19-1, which of Erin’s symptoms would cause you to suspect that she had a food-borne illness rather than the flu?
  2. What foods that Erin ingested are frequent sources of food-borne illness?
  3. Based on the information in this chapter, what questions would help you identify the likely cause of Erin’s food-borne illness?
  4. Besides calling her doctor for persistent symptoms, what dietary measures are important for Erin’s recovery?
  5. Knowing that she prefers to eat rare-cooked meat, what precautionary advice could you offer Erin in reference to Figure 19-4?
  6. Based on this experience, suggest one practical action from each of the four simple rules outlined in the “How To” section on page 628 that may protect Erin from food-borne illness in the future.

Case Study 20: Food for a Low-Income Family

Sarah is a 30-year-old mother of two young children, ages 3 and 5. Her husband was recently disabled in a car accident and has been unable to work for 6 months. Sarah works part-time in her children’s preschool and her husband receives a monthly check for his disability. Medical expenses have wiped out the family’s savings and monthly expenses often exceed the couple’s income. Sarah tells her close friend that she is unable to provide balanced meals for her family because she often runs out of foods such as milk and fresh produce before payday. Her children receive a healthy lunch and snack at preschool and a couple of times in the past month Sarah and her husband have had to skimp on their meals at home to make sure the children were fed adequately. Sarah is worried that their limited resources may be affecting the nutritional health of her family.

  1. Based on this family’s history, how would you classify their food insecurity according to Table 20-1?
  2. Using the “How To” ideas on page 663, what are at least 3 practical suggestions that would help Sarah provide nutritious meals to her family at the lowest cost?
  3. What programs mentioned in this chapter might this family be eligible for that could help improve their access to nutritious food?
  4. Sarah’s church keeps an emergency food pantry for people in their community. List some low-cost non-perishable food suggestions that would provide maximum nutritional benefit to this family.
  5. Sarah has recently qualified for the SNAP program. What nutrient-dense foods might she buy that would help stretch her food dollar and improve the overall quality of her family’s diet?
  6. Plan a one-day menu with 3 meals and 1 snack for this family that incorporates your ideas from the previous questions.

Concept Synthesis On Personal Nursing Philosophy

Assignment 3: Concept Synthesis Paper on Personal Nursing Philosophy

Overview

You are required to submit a scholarly paper in which you will identify, describe, research, and apply the concepts that underlie your personal philosophy for professional nursing practice.

This will help you identify your own values and beliefs about the established metaparadigms and metatheories of the discipline. It will also help you identify and articulate concepts relevant to your specific practice. This paper is intended to be an exercise in clarification and organization of your professional foundation. You are also required to provide a list of assumptions from personal nursing practice that illustrate the concepts and framework of your theory.

Your paper should follow a format that includes:

Nursing Autobiography: A brief (1 page) discussion of your background in nursing.

my background : In regards to the professional field, I received my BSN degree in Habana Cuba in 1996 and received my RN license in the State of Florida on October 13, 2014. My nursing practice was as emergency care nursing and internal medicine unit at “Calixto Garcia Hospital”, Cuba for three years, where provide care for patients with life-threatening medical conditions and look after patients who have experienced invasive surgery, accidents and/or trauma. Careful assessment and monitoring of patient progress in order to watch for sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition that might require emergency intervention and heart monitoring as well as treatment adjustments.

Moreover, I have been in the medical field in United State for more than 13 years working in Home Health Service and Rehabilitation Center in Miami. In my work experience I have been required to demonstrate many of the skills for the Family Nurse Practitioner. I have also undertaken leadership role during my career monitoring nursing students. I have done so successfully and have enjoyed this experience.

The Four Metaparadigms:Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on the basic four metaparadigms/concepts of patient, nurse, health, and environment.

Two Practice-Specific Concepts: Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on at least two other concepts specific to your own practice.

List of Propositions: A numbered list of at least five propositions or assumption statements that clearly connect the concepts described.

Consider the following questions as you complete your various tasks related to this assignment.

1.

How do I define and employ the four basic metaparadigms of nursing theory in my professional practice?

2.

What are the major concepts I employ that are unique to my professional practice?

3.

Asthma

Complications of asthma can be sudden. Consider the case of Bradley Wilson, a young boy who had several medical conditions. He appeared in good health when he went to school, returned home, and ate dinner. However, when he later went outside to play, he came back inside wheezing. An ambulance took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead (Briscoe, 2012). In another case, 10-year-old Dynasty Reese, who had mild asthma, woke up in the middle of the night and ran to her grandfather’s bedroom to tell him she couldn’t breathe. By the time paramedics arrived, she had passed out and was pronounced dead at the hospital (Glissman, 2012). These situations continue to outline the importance of recognizing symptoms of asthma and providing immediate treatment, as well as distinguishing minor symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since these symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, as an advanced practice nurse, you must be able to help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate treatment options. For this reason, you need to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.

To Prepare

Review “Asthma” in Chapter 26 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.
Select a patient factor different from the one you selected in this week’s Discussion: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Think about how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders. Reflect on how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these disorders for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Review the “Mind maps—Dementia, Endocarditis, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)” media in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Use the examples in the media as a guide to construct two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of both chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.
To Complete

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

Describe the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Be sure to explain the changes in the arterial blood gas patterns during an exacerbation.
Explain how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders. Describe how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Construct two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation. Include the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation, as well as the diagnosis and treatment you explained in your paper.
By Day 6
This Assignment is due.
