Workplace environment and civility

The workplace environment can be stressful and this can lead to healthcare professionals not being respectful to employee.  While taking care of patient’s nurses have to make sure the patients are safe.  Nurses have to be obligation to faster safe, ethical, civil workplace (Clark,2015).

Clark Workplace Environment Assessment

The score for the Clark healthy work inventory is 60 (Clark,2015).  My workplace is mildly healthy.  There is a small amount that will cause the organization communication uncivil, for example not communication with the staff, no teamwork, no respect for the leadership.  There has to be trust and respect among the staff.  The organization would have a high turnover.  The organization could get better by hiring new staff and get rid of the old staff.  The patients should always be safe, and get the care they need.

Example of Incivility in the Workplace

There was a certified nurse assistance who refused to give care to a patient.  The nurse asked the certified nurse assistant to give care to a patient, and the certified nurse assistant told the nurse why don’t you give care to the patient.  The nurse did write up the certified nurse assistant, and reported the problem to the unit manager and Director of Nursing, the certified nurse assistant was spoken to by the manager, which they should have been discipline as to be suspended.  The certified nurse assistant was back at work the next day; this is not good leadership.  When the nurse return to work and see no action has not been taken this will make the nurse feel the leadership is weak and not caring about the nurses, this will make the nurse to leave the organization.  The mangers will feel they will not have any staff to cover the shift, but that should not stop the managers from discipline the certified nurse assistant.  The organization will have a big turn over with nurses and certified nurse assistant leaving.  The nurse just want the patients to be safe and not to have any injuries Workplace Environment Assessment Assignment.
