Week 1, you analyzed a pre-intervention elementary school asthma database from the perspective of a public health informatician. This week, you will review the data set in more detail and discuss the tools informaticians use. For the asthma data summary, you will use your Excel Spreadsheet and Pivot Table reports. You will then answer the following questions in the form of a 3–4-page summary statement that includes the data as well as an interpretation of the findings. The Pivot Tables need to be embedded in your report to explain the summary results.

What summary results do your pivot tables demonstrate about this grade school population of students? Use the following questions to prepare your paper.

Data Frequency Questions:

Introduction:

Begin with an explanation of the tools of informatics, including spreadsheets, relational database technologies, and integrated statistical packages. Why are these tools and technologies so important when managing large databases of public health informatics?

Database Analyses

  • Are there more males or females in the survey population?
  • Which condition has the highest frequency?
  • Which month had the highest number of students with breathing difficulties?
  • Which school had the highest frequency of students with bronchitis?
  • Which gender has the highest frequency of asthma?
  • How many students answered yes to Reactive Airway Disease (RAD)?
  • What is the percentage of students with RAD that have been prescribed medication?
  • Which zip code has the highest number of students living in it?
  • Of that zip code, which condition had the highest frequency?
  • How many students answered yes to all four conditions: asthma, RAD, bronchitis, and wheezing?
  • Based on all four conditions and zip code, are the conditions evenly distributed among the survey population?
  • Does one school have more students in the affected zip codes and with all four conditions than the others do?
  • Summary:
  • Explain your data analyses results and describe what data quality assurances you applied to ensure your results are accurate.

Submission Details:

  • Give reasons and examples in support of your responses. Cite all sources using APA format.
  • Submit 3–4-page report in a Word document to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

Assignment 1: Differential Diagnosis for Skin Conditions

Properly identifying the cause and type of a patient’s skin condition involves a process of elimination known as differential diagnosis. Using this process, a health professional can take a given set of physical abnormalities, vital signs, health assessment findings, and patient descriptions of symptoms, and incrementally narrow them down until one diagnosis is determined as the most likely cause.

In this Assignment, you will examine several visual representations of various skin conditions, describe your observations, and use the techniques of differential diagnosis to determine the most likely condition.

To prepare:

· Review the Skin Conditions document provided in this week’s Learning Resources, and select one condition to closely examine for this Assignment.

· Consider the abnormal physical characteristics you observe in the graphic you selected. How would you describe the characteristics using clinical terminologies?

· Explore different conditions that could be the cause of the skin abnormalities in the graphics you selected.

· Consider which of the conditions is most likely to be the correct diagnosis, and why.

· Download the SOAP Template found in this week’s Learning Resources.

To complete:

· Choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint) to document your assignment in the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format, rather than the traditional narrative style. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Comprehensive SOAP Template in this week’s Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that not all comprehensive SOAP data are included in every patient case.

· Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. Formulate a differential diagnosis of three to five possible conditions for the skin graphic that you chose. Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis and explain your reasoning using at least 3 different references from current evidence based literature.

Discussion: Pharmacotherapy for Respiratory Disorders

To the untrained ear, most coughs sound the same. However, as you might recall from past clinical experiences, a simple cough can lead to a patient diagnosis of a common cold, pneumonia, or even a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although it can sometimes be challenging to diagnose a patient based on common respiratory symptoms such as congestion, coughing, and wheezing, it is important to be able to distinguish minor differences as even mild symptoms might require intervention with drug treatments. When recommending potential treatment options, advanced practice nurses must consider how individual patient factors might impact the effects of prescribed drugs.

To prepare:

· Review Chapter 26 and Chapter 27 of the Arcangelo and Peterson text.

· Select and research one of the following respiratory disorders: the common cold, pneumonia, or a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Consider types of drugs that would be prescribed to patients to treat symptoms associated with this disorder.

· Select one of the following factors: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Reflect on how this factor might impact effects of prescribed drugs, as well as any measures you might take to help reduce negative side effects.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post a description of the respiratory disorder you selected including types of drugs that would be prescribed to patients to treat associated symptoms. Then, explain how the factor you selected might impact effects of prescribed drugs, as well as any measures you might take to help reduce negative side effects.

Prompt In this project, you will analyze a court case involving medical malpractice. Using your analysis of the case, you will address the facts pertaining to the medical standard of care, breach of care, and causation. Further, you will use the facts from the original case to identify an ethics issue, determine an ethical theory that would help provide a safe and quality healthcare experience for the patient, apply a clinician–patient shared decision-making model, and augment or vary the facts of the case to change the outcome.

You will use the following case to analyze for Final Project I:

 Surgery: Iturralde v. Hilo Medical Center USA

Specifically, your case study must address the following critical elements:

I. Introduction: A. Summarize the selected case, including information on the stakeholders involved, the problem, and the time period the incident occurred.

II. Medical Malpractice Component: In this section, you will evaluate the case to address the legal components, the malpractice policies similar to this case, and the standard of care given to the patient and how it was breached. Workplace Environment Assessment Assignment

Workplace Environment Assessment Assignment

Assignment: Workplace Environment Assessment

Clearly, diagnosis is a critical aspect of healthcare. However, the ultimate purpose of a diagnosis is the development and application of a series of treatments or protocols. Isolated recognition of a health issue does little to resolve it.

Workplace environment and civility

The workplace environment can be stressful and this can lead to healthcare professionals not being respectful to employee.  While taking care of patient’s nurses have to make sure the patients are safe.  Nurses have to be obligation to faster safe, ethical, civil workplace (Clark,2015).

Clark Workplace Environment Assessment

The score for the Clark healthy work inventory is 60 (Clark,2015).  My workplace is mildly healthy.  There is a small amount that will cause the organization communication uncivil, for example not communication with the staff, no teamwork, no respect for the leadership.  There has to be trust and respect among the staff.  The organization would have a high turnover.  The organization could get better by hiring new staff and get rid of the old staff.  The patients should always be safe, and get the care they need.

Example of Incivility in the Workplace

There was a certified nurse assistance who refused to give care to a patient.  The nurse asked the certified nurse assistant to give care to a patient, and the certified nurse assistant told the nurse why don’t you give care to the patient.  The nurse did write up the certified nurse assistant, and reported the problem to the unit manager and Director of Nursing, the certified nurse assistant was spoken to by the manager, which they should have been discipline as to be suspended.  The certified nurse assistant was back at work the next day; this is not good leadership.  When the nurse return to work and see no action has not been taken this will make the nurse feel the leadership is weak and not caring about the nurses, this will make the nurse to leave the organization.  The mangers will feel they will not have any staff to cover the shift, but that should not stop the managers from discipline the certified nurse assistant.  The organization will have a big turn over with nurses and certified nurse assistant leaving.  The nurse just want the patients to be safe and not to have any injuries Workplace Environment Assessment Assignment.
