Social Media and Interpersonal Relationships

Question Description

Please use different word documents for each question.

I have attached my work for each week. Topic for Question 1 and Question 2 is based on previous works that i have attached. The topic is around Social Media and Interpersonal Relationships

Question 1:

This week we are learning about the power of inductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning is not only extremely common, but it can also provide very good evidence for conclusions. This discussion prompt allows you to present an inductive version of the argument that you have been developing in this course.

Prepare: To prepare to write this discussion, read Chapters 5 and 6, focusing especially the section on “Strengthening Inductive Reasoning” in Chapter 5. Take a look as well at the required resources from this week, including What is a Strong Argument?

Reflect: Create a new (and improved) version of the argument that you have been developing throughout this course. Try to make sure that all of your premises are true and your reasoning is inductively strong. Again, consider how someone with the opposite point of view might criticize your argument and see if you can improve it to avoid those objections.

Write: Present your argument in standard form and explain any weaknesses that might remain. A weakness could mean a premise that many might disagree with or questions about the strength of the inference. Indicate briefly how you might address those weaknesses to strengthen your argument further. What further information might strengthen your argument the most?

Guided Response: Read the arguments presented by your classmates and analyze the reasoning they have presented. Comment on the strength of their reasoning. Help them out by pointing out any respect in which a reasonable person might disagree with the truth of their premises or with the strength of their reasoning. Give suggestions for how the argument might be improved. If someone presents good suggestions for your own argument respond with an improved version of the argument.

Question 2:

Counterargument Paper

This paper assignment expands upon your Week One Assignment and prepares you for the Final Paper. The expansion is to learn to improve one’s argument after investigating and fairly representing the opposite point of view. The main new tasks are to revise your previous argument created in Week One, to present a counterargument (an argument for a contrary conclusion), and to develop an objection to your original argument.

Here are the steps to prepare to write the counterargument paper:

  • Begin reviewing your previous paper paying particular attention to suggestions for improvement made by your instructor.
  • Revise your argument, improving it as much as possible, accounting for any suggestions and in light of further material you have learned in the course. If your argument is inductive, make sure that it is strong. If your argument is deductive, make sure that it is valid.
  • Construct what you take to be the strongest possible argument for a conclusion contrary to the one you argued for in your Week One paper. This is your counterargument. This should be based on careful thought and appropriate research.
  • Consider the primary points of disagreement between the point of view of your original argument and that of the counterargument.
  • Think about what you take to be the strongest objection to your original argument and how you might answer the objection while being fair to both sides. Search in the Ashford University Library for quality academic sources that support some aspect of your argument or counterargument.

In your paper,

  • Present a revised argument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line.
  • Present a counterargument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line.
  • Provide support for each premise of your counterargument. Clarify the meaning of the premise and supporting evidence for the premise.
    • Pay special attention to those premises that could be seen as controversial. Evidence may include academic research sources, supporting arguments, or other ways of demonstrating the truth of the premise (for more ideas about how to support the truth of premises take a look at the instructor guidance for this week). This section should include at least one scholarly research source. For guidance about how to develop a conclusion see the Ashford Writing Center’s Introductions and Conclusions (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..
  • Explain how the conclusion of the counterargument follows from its premises. [One paragraph]
  • Discuss the primary points of disagreement between sincere and intelligent proponents of both sides. [One to two paragraphs]
    • For example, you might list any premises or background assumptions on which you think such proponents would disagree and briefly state what you see as the source of the disagreement, you could give a brief explanation of any reasoning that you think each side would find objectionable, or you could do a combination of these.
  • Present the best objection to your original argument. Clearly indicate what part of the argument your objection is aimed at, and provide a paragraph of supporting evidence for the objection. Reference at least one scholarly research source. [One to two paragraphs]
    • See the “Practicing Effective Criticism” section of Chapter 9 of your primary textbook for more information about how to present an objection.

  • Must be 500 to 800 words in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (for more information about using APA style, take a look at the APA Essay Checklist for Students (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. webpage).
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must use at least two scholarly sources in addition to the course text.

If you have questions about whether a specific source is appropriate for this assignment, please contact your instructor. Your instructor has the final say about the appropriateness of a specific source for a particular assignment.
  • Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (for more information about how to create an APA reference list, take a look at the APA References List (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. webpage).
  • Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Question 3:

One interesting thing that we have learned about inductive inference is that it is never final. New information can come along to further strengthen or weaken an inductive inference. This exercise gives you some practice in seeing how inductive reasoning can be strengthened and weakened with new information.

Prepare: To prepare for this prompt take a look at Chapters 5 and 6 in our book, paying special attention to the section titled “Inductive Strength” (including the section “A Closer Look: Using Premises to Affect Inductive Strength”).

Reflect: Find an inductive argument that occurs in some online source (make sure to cite the source) or think of one that you have heard used in your life. Consider its strength and how it might be strengthened or weakened in light of further information.

Write: Present an example of inductive reasoning. Comment on the strength of the inference. State a premise that could be added that, if true, would strengthen the inference. Now list another premise that could be added that would weaken it again. Now add another premise that could be added to strengthen it yet again. Continue this process even more times if you are enjoying the process and find it interesting.

Guided Response:
Respond substantively to at least three of your classmates’ posts. What did you learn about inductive inference and about this specific argument by seeing how it is possible to strengthen or weaken it with further information? Can you think of other ways that the argument could be strengthened or weakened? What does this tell you about drawing conclusions in real life?

In examining the history of gerontological nursing, one must marvel at the advocacy and perseverance of nurses who have remained deeply committed to the care of older adults despite struggling against insurmountable odds over the years.

Question Description

Assignment 2: LASA

In examining the history of gerontological nursing, one must marvel at the advocacy and perseverance of nurses who have remained deeply committed to the care of older adults despite struggling against insurmountable odds over the years.

Bernita Steffl asserts “There is always an interesting person there, sometimes locked in the cage of age. I think I have helped at least a few of my students with this approach, ‘You see me as I am now, but I see myself as I’ve always been and all the things I’ve been—not just an old lady” (as cited in Ebersole & Touhy, 2006, p. 52).

Reference:

Ebersole, P., & Touhy, T. (2006). Geriatric nursing: Growth of a specialty. New York: Springer.

development of a community response to crises.

Assessment Instructions

PREPARATION

Suppose you have been invited to participate in a roundtable discussion meeting on the development of a community response to crises. To prepare for this discussion, you have been asked to research ways that other communities have provided health care services during crisis situations, identify best practices, and develop a nursing response for providing health care services. You would be presenting your research and nursing response to the roundtable panel during the meeting.

Select two communities that have suffered a crisis of some kind within ten years of each other. For example, you might choose to look at New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina in comparison to New Jersey and Hurricane Sandy. You might address the 2011 tornado outbreak and compare the response of Joplin, Missouri with the response of Birmingham, Alabama. Or, you might choose to look at the responses to volcano eruptions in Hawaii as compared to Washington State. You are not limited to natural disasters; feel free to explore environmental disasters and outbreaks of disease. Try to choose the type of crisis situation that could occur within your own community.

Once you have selected your two communities and their comparable crisis situations, look in the Capella library and on the Internet for scholarly journal articles on how health care professionals responded to the crises.

REQUIREMENTS

For this assessment, create a PowerPoint presentation that examines provision of health care services related to community crises, from a nursing perspective. In your PowerPoint, address the following:

  • Compare the different approaches of two communities for responding to a community crisis.
  • Explain how the crisis situation in each community affected the overall health of the community.
  • Describe potential obstacles in your own community to providing health care services related to community crises.
  • Explain current practices in your own community for providing health care services related to community crises.
  • Recommend an evidence-based nursing response for providing health care services related to community crises.
    • Your nursing response does not need to be overly detailed. In real life, a nursing response would be the work of a committee or another group, based on the research and recommendations of others.
    • Your nursing response should provide foundational research and recommendations based on evidence. Consider things such as triage points, communication methods, caring for staff, providing basic necessities such as food and water, use of other organizations for shelter, and so on.

Use the Notes section of each PowerPoint slide to expand your points and provide supporting evidence.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Complete your assessment using the following specifications:

  • Include a title slide and reference slide.
  • Number of slides: 10–15.
  • At least 3 current scholarly or professional resources.
  • APA format for in-text citations and references.
  • Be creative. Consider your target audience.

ethics case study nursing

Question Description

(1) A Scholarly Academic Journal/Article must be used pertaining to healthcare (i.e. nursing, hospital, medical care). However you could type in the search engine: “ethics case study nursing” or “ethics case study healthcare” and etc. (2) Subheadings must be included for each paragraph. Subheading should be titled: Introduction, Intervention/Solution, Possible Interventions/Solutions, Case Outcome, Cultural Issues, Ethical Principle, Conclusion. (3) Plagiarism will be checked through the software turnitin.com. (4) Please read the Rubric and Paper Instructions carefully. One of the criteria is to “Explain at least two ethical principles involved and how the principles apply to the case”

  • Explain at least two ethical principles involved (from Ethical Principles in the Ethics folder) and how the principles apply to the case

Autonomy

This principle asserts that individuals have the right to determine their own actions and the freedom to make their own decisions. Autonomous decisions are based on the individual’s values, adequate information, freedom from coercion, and reason and deliberation.

Beneficence

Beneficence is the doing of good, and it is a critical ethical principle in health care. Actions motivated by the principle of beneficence may, however, conflict with other principles, particularly patient autonomy.

Nonmaleficence

This is defined as the duty to do no harm. It is enshrined in the medical profession’s Hippocratic Oath and is likewise critical to the nursing profession. The nurse must not intentionally harm the patient. Chemotherapy is an example of a procedure that does short-term harm to the patient in hopes of producing great long-term good, and illustrates the “double effect principle.” Four conditions must be fulfilled to justify the use of the double effect principle: (1) the action must be good or at least morally indifferent; (2) the health care provider must intend only the good effects; (3) the undesired effects cannot be a means to the end or good effect; (4) there is a favorable balance between desirable and undesirable effects.

Justice

Justice requires that equals should be treated the same, and unequals should be treated differently. In the health care context, this means that patients with the same diagnosis and health care needs should receive the same care, while those with greater or lesser needs should receive care that is appropriate to their needs. Wealth, however, buys better health care regardless of the specific need of the patient. Given vast wealth disparity, it is unclear how the principle of justice can properly be applied. This problem is compounded by systemic wealth disparities that closely track racial and ethnic background, leading to racial and ethnic disparities in health care access, treatment options, and outcomes.

Fidelity

Fidelity refers to honoring one’s commitments or promises. For nurses, this specifically refers to fidelity to their patients. When a nurse is licensed, she or he accepts responsibility to respect all individuals, to uphold the Code of Ethics for Nurses, to practice within the scope of nursing practice, to keep skills current, to abide by an employer’s policies, and to keep promises to patients.

Veracity

This consists in telling the truth. Truth-telling is fundamental to the development and maintenance of trust among people. The nurse-patient relationship assumes that the nurse will deal honestly with his or her patient. Some rare instances provide narrow exceptions to the nurse general duty to tell her or his patient the truth. Deceiving a patient “for their own good” amounts to paternalism, which denies the patient’s autonomy.

Ethics Paper Instructions

2 pages Student will identify an ethical case study and develop a (3) page paper. Students should:

  • Find a case study from a current event or personal issue
  • Describe the case
  • Explain at least two ethical principles involved (from Ethical Principles in the Ethics folder) and how the principles apply to the case
  • Identify several possible interventions or solutions that could have been used in this case
  • Identify and describe cultural issues that would influence the decision
  • Describe the intervention/solution that was used in this case and why it was or was not the best solution
  • Describe the outcome of the case

The paper must be in APA format (title page, running head, in-text citations, introduction, conclusion, reference page). An abstract is not required.

Include at least two scholarly references dated within the last 10 years other than the textbook. No Wikipedia.

Points will be deducted for incorrect grammar, spelling, format, and citations.

Course Project Part 1

Reflection Paper

For this assignment, identify a behavior modification you would like to establish through the utilization of a self-management program.

Clearly identify the target behavior or behaviors, and outline what aspects of the behavior or behaviors you would like to support or discourage. You could mention the struggles you have had with this target behavior in the past, challenges you might face while attempting to change the behavior, or other aspects.

Be sure to investigate ethical issues in settings used for research and treatment of this specific behavior modification.

You are encouraged to use media like pictures, graphs, and tables in your reflection paper.

Your reflection paper should be formatted in a more relaxed and narrative manner; however, remain professional and maintain your academic tone. The reflection paper must be at least two pages long and at least 500-600 words.

Your instructor will be grading your assignment according to the assignment rubric.

Instructions

Course Project Part 2

Find a case study in the CSU Online Library that focuses on the target behavior you identified in Unit III for your course project. Next, analyze the methods that were applied to modify the target behavior and evaluate whether or not these methods would be useful in your own self-management project.

Be sure to address the following:

  • Training goals: summarize ways to increase and decrease target behaviors using operant conditioning.
  • Consequences: examine applications of reinforcers and punishments.
  • Schedules of reinforcement: identify as continuous or intermittent (if intermittent, is the reinforcement based on a ratio or interval schedule?)
  • What aspects of culture may impact the behavior that was identified in the case study?
  • Were there any ethical boundaries that were crossed or mentioned in the case study? What might one consider (ethically) when conducting a case study such as the one you selected?

Your case study should be a minimum of two pages, not including the title and reference pages. You must use a minimum of three sources, which should be properly cited. All references should be formatted in APA style.
