understanding of culturally safe health promotion strategies, including education strategies

The aim of this assignment is for students to demonstrate an understanding of culturally safe health promotion strategies, including education strategies that address the needs of clients with chronic diseases that empowers them to self-manage their condition. The provision of education to enable people to make decisions and to take actions in relation to their health is part of the role of theRegistered Nurse (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, 2016). Additionally, culturally safe and respectful practice requires having knowledge of how a nurses own culture, values, attitudes assumptions and beliefs influence their interaction with people and families, the community and colleagues (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, Code of Conduct 2018) This assignment addresses the following course learning outcomes: ● Apply health promotion and illness prevention practices in aculturally safe manner to support people diagnosed with chronic illness; ● Analyse primary health care and health promotion strategies that address the needs of those with chronic diseases. TASK:Instructions: For this assignment, you are required to choose one (1) client scenario from the two options given below and write a 2000-word structured essay in which you: 1. Provide an overview of one(1) of the chosen client’s chronic conditions/illnesses; 2. Describe one (1) actual and/or potential health concern for the client; 3. Identify two (2) appropriate topics for client education (for the identified health concern). 4. Explain how each topic addresses the actual and/or potential health concern for the client and how each topic will assist the client to self-manage their chronic condition and optimize their health; 5. Describe two (2) specific, appropriate client education strategies that the Registered Nurse would use to teach the chosen education topics (one strategy for each topic). Include details of how the education will be structured and delivered (i.e., method/tool used, setting for education, participants to be involved, Using scholarly literature, justify your choice of education strategies for this particular client. 7. Reflect on how your own culture, values, attitudes assumptions and beliefs may influence your interactions with the respective client (i.e., Mr. Boulia or Mr. Polaris) and their families, the community and colleagues. NOTE: ● Ensure you use a client /patient-centered and/or family-centered approach that optimizes individual self-management and promotes the active participation of the individual and family in illness management. ● You must support all sections of your essay with scholarly literature from the past 5 years.

Explain why it is important for nurses and members of other health care teams to develop an understanding of CAM, traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality.

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of 8–10 slides that explains why an understanding of complimentary alternative medicine (CAM) and spirituality is important for members of health care teams; examines the ethical, legal, and financial principles related to CAM and spirituality; and describes how these forms of health care can impact plans of action.

Preparation
Your organization has seen an increase in the number of individuals using complimentary alternative medicine (CAM), traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality. In addition to your work on the interdisciplinary team, you have been asked by your organization to prepare and deliver an educational session on CAM, traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality that can be used by all health care teams. How will you complete this task?
You should focus on these concepts as they pertain to your population (from the Windshield Survey assessment), but also in a broader sense. Use the Capella library and the Internet to look for recent research articles or information on these topics to use as supporting resources in your assessment.
Requirements
For this assessment, prepare a PowerPoint presentation in which you:

Identify the topics you will cover in your educational plan.
Provide a list of resources your audience can use to further their understanding of complimentary alternative medicine (CAM).
Explain why it is important for nurses and members of other health care teams to develop an understanding of CAM, traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality.
Examine any ethical, legal, and economic principles related to CAM, traditional medicine, holistic health, and spirituality.
Describe how these forms of health care can affect a plan of action for individuals and populations.

Your presentation should include a slide with the title of your educational session, a slide with the topics that will be covered (your agenda), and a reference slide at the end. Use the notes section of each slide to provide additional information on each topic, along with supporting references. References and in-text citations must adhere to APA guidelines.
Additional Requirements

Include a title slide and reference slide. The completed assessment should be 8–10 slides in length, not including the title slide and reference slide.

World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Population Salt Reduction

Enabling students to apply their understanding of global health and sustainability by designing an evaluation of a global health initiative.

High blood pressure is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease which is a major contributor to the global burden of disease. Excess dietary salt intake is well established as a leading cause of high blood pressure and associated cardiovascular disease, yet current salt intake in most populations worldwide is approximately 9–12 grams per day, in excess of WHO recommendations. Salt reduction is emerging as one of the most cost-effective, feasible, and affordable strategies for control of blood pressure and cardiovascular disease prevention globally which would see a potential 1.65 million cardiovascular disease-related deaths prevented each year worldwide.

Identify a global initiative to reduce sodium consumption. Examples include the commitment of the Government of India to achieving a 30 per cent reduction in salt intake by 2025, the UK Food Standards Agency salt reduction strategy, and the WHO SHAKE technical package for salt reduction. Any global initiative to reduce sodium consumption can be used.

Choose one initiative. Plan an evaluation of the initiative.

Key features to include in your evaluation plan should include the following:

  1. Problem definition
    • Define what the global health problem is
  2. Solution generation (describe initiative)
    • Describe the initiative to address this problem; outline how it may be used to change policy/practice.
    • Create a logic model to explore the inputs, outputs, and impact of the initiative.
  3. Resource mobilisation
    • Describe what potential barriers/enablers could influence the implementation of the initiative.
    • Detail the strategies that could be used to identify these barriers/enablers.
  4. Implementation/outcome assessment
    • Choose a qualitative or quantitative study design that would be most appropriate to evaluate the initiative.
    • Describe which outcomes would be used to examine the impact of the initiative on the health priority area.
    • Describe how these outcomes would be assessed.
  5. Dissemination
    • Describe which strategies you would use to disseminate the outcomes of the public health initiative.

Q1: Information Technology. Healthcare Case Study, Stage 1: Process AnalysisINTRODUCTION In healthcare systems, there are several areas that need improvements. This depends on the various hospitals, people or culture in a given area, beliefs and various reasons too. There are various models for improvement, in which, they have two basic components, for instance, it begins by addressing various fundamental questions, like, how can we know if a given change is an improvement? The second part is a vigorous cycle improvement cycle. In this second part of the QI plan we will be dealing with a specific healthcare performance area, discussing the various models of improvement, current technology and various benchmarks and milestone that can be taken for improvement in our plan(Strome, 2013). Sol:1 Improving quality Health literacy can be viewed as a degree to which individuals have a capacity to obtain, understand common information that deals with the health care facilities, this is also related to the basic information that is needed in making good and appropriate health care decisions. Quality improvement models are hence needed to attain a suitable health literacy in all of the health care facilities(Carnevale, 2012). We will concentrate on the three common models, which include the Plan-Do-Study-Act model, the lean model commonly referred to the Toyota model in the business world and lastly the six sigma quality improvement model. Quality improvement models Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) This method has been widely used by the institute of the healthcare Improvement for a wide range of improvement, this is done so that to make a positive change in the healthcare systems and affecting its outcomes for positive results and hence the use of the Plan-Do-Study-Act model(Carnevale, 2012). This model is capable of impacting and assessing various changes due to its cyclical nature. The primary objective of this model is to come up with a functional relationship between the…

Module 6 (Weeks 10 and 11): Health Care Reform and Current and Future Trends in the U.S. Health Care Delivery System

Life is divided into three terms—that which was, which is, and which will be. Let us learn from the past to profit by the present, and from the present, to live better in the future.

—William Wordsworth

In the first module of this course, you examined historical developments that have influenced health care delivery in the United States. Studying the past is critical for understanding the current health care landscape. In addition, health care administrators and others must pay attention to emerging trends that are likely to influence health care delivery in the future. Although the health care field is complex and rapidly evolving, examining key issues and trends provides a foundation for effectively planning for the future. As a health care administrator, this future-focused orientation can help you contribute to improving health care delivery and health outcomes for the people you serve.Learning Objectives

Students will:
  • Analyze trends that impact the U.S. health care delivery system
  • Analyze current and future issues related to health care reform
  • Evaluate potential impacts of health care reform on health care administration
  • Evaluate potential impacts of changing demographics on health care delivery
  • Apply business communication skills to convey critical changes for health care organizations

Federal, state, and local health care policies are continually instituted or amended to address emerging issues and trends and to rectify problems in health care delivery. For instance, reform may be required to address cost containment challenges or disparities in access to health care services.

Identify an issue currently in the news that relates to federal, state, or local reform.

Research the issue in a variety of news sources, such as government sites (e.g., the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Mental Health) and online newspapers. Do not use blogs or other informal sources.

Select one article or news item on which to focus for this Discussion.

Reflect on the information in the article/news item and consider how it relates to your understanding of the U.S. health care delivery system. Review the information in the Learning Resources and conduct additional research using the Walden Library and credible websites to assess this issue and associated reform efforts.

Analyze the social, economic, and political circumstances surrounding this instance of health care reform, and evaluate what this development might mean for your work in health care administration.

Assignment: Current and Future Considerations for Health Care Delivery

Imagine that you are an administrator in a health services organization, and the CEO of your organization asks you to assess and report on developments that are likely to affect the organization’s success. What will you discover as you investigate changes in your community and the broader health care landscape?

In preparation for this Assignment, review your completed Module 3 Assignment, including any feedback you received from your Instructor. Select one organization from that Assignment on which to focus for this Assignment (i.e., imagine that this organization is the one in which you work).

Use the Learning Resources provided in this module, as well as previous modules, and locate additional sources through the Walden Library and credible websites to conduct your research. Use the following questions to guide your investigation:

  • What are the prevalent health concerns in this community?
  • What are the key issues related to cost, quality, and access that affect the organization and the people this organization serves?
  • Which organizations in this area are business competitors and/or which organizations use highly effective practices or strategies that this organization may learn from or adopt?
  • How will demographics and health reform likely impact the organization, as well as the broader community, in the next 5 years?

Next, review the information on business writing included in the Learning Resources. Consider what the central point of your memo should be. For instance, is there a critical challenge the organization is likely to encounter? Does the information you have gathered suggest the need for a particular course of action or a new business direction? If so, use this memo to inform and influence the CEO. If not, share the findings of your research with the assumption that the CEO will use this information as a launching point for future discussions.

The Assignment

Write a 2- to 3-page business memo in which you address:

  • Prevalent health concerns in the community
  • Issues related to cost, quality, and access that affect the organization and the people it serves
  • Organizations in the community that are business competitors and/or from which you can learn highly effective practices or strategies
  • Ways in which changing demographics and health reform will likely affect your organization and the broader community in the next 5 years

Your Assignment must be written in standard edited English. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this module’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct. See the rubric for additional requirements related to research and scholarly writing.
