How will the care delivery system accommodate the influx of new “customers”?

This course which I am taking this semester is an online course. The name of this course is Emerging Issues in the health of the Nation. I have TWO questions which I need an expert to answer them. The two questions are posted in the blackboard by the professor. The professor posted THREE materials on the blackboard for these questions and here are the materials:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5sYV7JaU10http://www.kff.org/healthreform/upload/8061.pdfhttp://www.kff.org/healthreform/upload/8332.pdf
THE DISCUSSION QUESTION #1:Based on what you havegathered from the class readings and video, what do you think the health care landscape will look like in the year 2020 with Health Care Reform? In your answer, I would like you to think about how people will receive care, who is providing the care, the quality of the services delivered, health care as a percentage of the gross domestic product, etc. In your answer you can focus on your current career/educational area such as nursing, gerontology, IT, etc. or provide a high level view. Please ensure your responses are at least 200 words.
THE DISCUSSION QUESTION #2:

For the Week 2 Discussion Question 1, you were asked to provide a macro view of the future of health care with the advent of Health Reform. In this question I would like you to focus on the Individual Mandate Reform. This is not a political debate regarding the Supreme Court’s decision, rather I want you to approach the questions from the perspective that we will have millions more American citizens who are now insured. Specifically, I would like you to discuss how the Individual Mandate will shape the health status of the country as a whole.

Questions to ponder include:

  • Do you think there will be an impact on chronic disease (possible decrease)?
  • Will there be enough providers to care for the newly insured?
  • Will hospitals have an increase or decrease in the number of admissions?
  • How will the care delivery system accommodate the influx of new “customers”?
  • Will insurance companies be able to offer individual coverage for the long term?

Take some time to think about the questions. Think back to other classes you may have had in economics, health policy, ethics or political science. I am seeking responses based on the law (Health Reform) as it is currently written. Please refer back to the text in the readings or reference other materials to support your post of 200-400 words.

Susan Moore is the nurse manager in charge of a 25-bed medical unit at St. Eligius Hospital. She is currently preparing the nurse staffing plan for the next fiscal year. Hospital management has provided all nurse managers with a list of assumptions for staff planning, most of which are to use last year’s numbers as first estimates for next year. Susan has assembled the following data for last year:

• The percentage of productive nursing hours was 83 percent.

• Fifty-two percent of nursing staff worked days, and 48 percent worked nights.

• The nursing staff was made up of 74 percent RNs, 16 percent LPNs, and 10 percent NAs.

• At St. Eligius Hospital, 1.0 FTE 2,080 hours.

From the hospital’s patient classification system, Susan also assembled the following information for last year:

However, Susan is an experienced manager and is aware of several changes that will affect the nursing unit in the next year. More specifically, Dr. Smith, a senior physician who accounted for a large proportion of the unit’s admissions, has just retired. In recent years, Dr. Smith has limited his practice to simpler medical cases, referring more complex cases to specialists who do not admit to the medical unit. Dr. Jones just started at the hospital; she was recruited to replace Dr. Smith. Dr. Jones is a recent graduate who intends to care for many of the complex patients whom Dr. Smith previously referred to other specialists. Although the hospital projects that the unit’s patient days will not differ from historical patient days, Susan is projecting a change in the mix of patients because of the arrival of Dr. Jones: 500 Level-1 patient days, 1,500 Level-2 days, 3,000 Level-3 days, 2,500 Level-4 days, and 1,500 Level-5 days. Susan also knows that Dr. Jones plans to do more complex treatments during the day, which will (1) increase the nursing staff who work days to 57 percent and reduce the staff who work nights to 43 percent and (2) increase the nursing staff who are RNs to 78 percent, who are LPNs to 14 percent, and who are NAs to 8 percent.

Exercise 3 Questions

1. Based on Susan’s projection of patient days, what is the projected total unit workload by patient classification level? What differences do you notice between the projected and the historic total unit workload?

2. Calculate the historical number of FTEs by staff type and by shift. Based on Susan’s projection of patient days, calculate the projected number of FTEs by staff type and shift. What differences do you notice between the projected and historic FTEs?

Develop a philosophy that supports advanced nursing

Develop a philosophy that supports advanced nursing practice reflecting the values,…

MN502-4: Develop a philosophy that supports advanced nursing practice reflecting the values, beliefs, and cultural competencies relative to nursing practice, science, and theory.

Now that you have spent the last 8 weeks discussing theory development and exploring models and philosophies that guide advance practice nursing, it is time for you to put it all together. In this Assignment, you will create a presentation using any form of presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint®, Prezi™, Movenote™, Powtoons™, Slidedog™, and so on). Your presentation should bring together the theory that best fits your concept of advance practice nursing, the model that you will use to translate this into practice, and your final philosophy of advance practice nursing related to your role after graduation.

Please remember that your presentation should contain slides that have bullet points. The bullets should number no more than four to six per slide. The bullet point is not written as a complete sentence. It contains key words. You, as the presenter will explain in depth what each bullet point means in the audio portion of the presentation. Slides may contain graphics, but should be uncluttered. Background and font colors should be of sufficient contrast to make reading them easy on the eyes. Attention to colors should be paid so that a person who is colorblind can easily read the presentation.

Assignment Details

The presentation should consist of a series of slides that include:

·         Title Slide: A title slide that identifies the title of the presentation and name of the student.

·         Introduction Slide: An introduction slide that includes brief information about you and your program track. The slide should also explain to the audience the purpose of the presentation.

·         Model Slides: The third and fourth slides will address your chosen model. The bullet points should consist of the specific characteristics of the model. You will need at least one citation that identifies where the model came from. Your audio will expound upon the model and what the characteristics mean. The fourth slide should include why you chose the model and how you will apply it in practice.

·         Theory Slides: The next three slides will focus on your chosen theory. The first slide should present your theory and why you chose it. The next slide would present the key concepts of the theory and how it has been used to date in past research no older than 5 years ago. The third slide will discuss how you will use this theory in practice as an advance practice nurse upon graduation.

·         Philosophy Slide: The next area will consist of one slide that presents your philosophy of advance practice nursing in the post-graduate role you will assume. The philosophy statement will consist of one to three sentences that distill the essence of what you believe advance practice nursing is and your conception of nursing as a profession. It is written in the first person and present tense. It is a personal statement of your beliefs about the profession of nursing. This should present guiding statements for your future practice in the advanced practice role. An example of a philosophy statement might read this way: Advanced practice nursing takes the art and science of nursing to a level of “other” and “self” interacting together to reach a state of optimal wellness guided with compassion and love for the culture of the “other.”

·         Graphical Slide: The next-to-last slide will be a graphical representation of how the model, theory, and your philosophy fit together.

·         Conclusion Slide: The last slide will be a conclusion that brings together everything you have presented. It is not a summary that just reiterates what you presented. It is a judgment about what you presented and bring the audience home, ending the presentation on a positive note about the future.

You will need supporting citations for your theory and model slides, and possibly for your philosophy, as appropriate. You will include the citations where appropriate and your very last slide will be a reference slide.

The total slide count should not exceed 15 slides. This does not include the reference slide(s) or the title slide.

Research Database Assignment– Week 3

Guidelines and Grading Rubric

PURPOSE

You are tolocate and document research databases that relate to a significant clinical nursing issue of your choice. The research databases may be labeled as such, or may be collections of research studies and reports. You are not looking for research or articles, you are looking for new databases.

COURSE OUTCOMES

This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcome:

CO 1: Examine the sources of evidence that contribute to professional nursing practice. (PO #7)

DUE DATE:You are to identify a total of five research databases(or collections of research-based evidence) that are relevant to a significant clinical nursing issue that is important to you. Submit the descriptions using the form provided in Doc Sharing to the Week 3 Dropboxby 11:59 p.m.Sunday (MT).

POINTS

The assignment is worth a total of 175 points. Please see the grading rubric for details.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Choose a topic of interestto you that is a significant clinical nursing issue. Please note that the databases you identify could be useful sources of information for your Capstone project in NR451, so choose your topic thoughtfully.

2. Download the NR439_Research_Database_Form from Doc Sharing and type information about each database directly onto the form. Your paper does NOT need to follow APA formatting; however, you are expected to use correct grammar, spelling, syntax, and write in complete sentences.

3. Save the file by clicking Save as and adding your last name, e.g., NR439_Research Database_Smith.docx.

4. Describe your topic of interest. This is worth 15 points.

A major skill that is learned in this course is how to critically read and critique…

1 answer below »

Instructions: A major skill that is learned in this course is how to critically read and critique nursing research articles. The purpose for critiquing an article is to critically evaluate the research process followed by the author(s) of the assigned article. This is an information-intensive, time-intensive process that is not learned overnight. To demonstrate your skill at critiquing an article, you will complete this open-book multiple choice assignment.

Here’s how you should approach completing this week’s assignment to finish critiquing an article:

1. First, do your assigned reading in Grove, Gray, and Burns (2015) and complete the reading worksheets early in the week. This will introduce you to the critique skills you will need for the week.

2. Skim the entire instructor assigned research article that has been posted on Blackboard for you so that you will have an idea of what it is about. Then, for this week, re-read carefully the first half of the article, starting with the abstract and stopping after the first paragraph of the results or “findings” section.

3. Print this document and find the best answer to each question below based on your Grove, Gray, and Burns (2015) assigned reading for the week and what you have read in the instructor assigned research article.

4. Some of the questions in the critique assignment below will seem unfamiliar to you. Look up key terms from the question in your textbook. Some examples of these terms might be: problem statement, variables, and cross-sectional. You can also look in Chapter 12 for an example of a critical appraisal (or critique) of a quantitative research article.

5. Once you have completed this assignment “on paper”, go into blackboard and enter your answers by the assignment due date and time listed in the syllabus. Ignore any wording from Blackboard that indicates that “this is a test” and carefully enter your answers from this document.

6. You will have two access attempts to record your answers. This is given to you so that if you encounter technical difficulties on your first attempt, or you would like a second attempt to try to improve your grade, you may do so. You will not be able to see the questions that you missed when you submit your attempt. Blackboard will record the highest grade from the two submissions.

If you have questions about this assignment, you can post them to your group discussion board for help. Please do not post the exact question from the assignment below and ask the group for the answer as this would constitute academic dishonesty.

Develop a Mock Group Interaction

Develop a Mock Group Interaction

1 answer below »In this assignment, you will develop a mock scenario of a group interaction and how you as a consultant would facilitate the group. Imagine that you are consulting for the Nursing Services Department in a major hospital. The nurses are concerned about the increase of violence against them. One nurse was attacked in the parking lot and others report anger and aggression directed toward them from patients who are either delusional due to pain killing drugs or who disagree with their treatment plans. The head of Nursing Services is concerned but feels that she lacks sufficient support from administration to increase security. The meeting is attended by fifteen nurses, the Nursing Services Director, and a representative from the Human Resources Department.
Create a scenario in which you would facilitate such a meeting with this group. Write the dialogue between the nurses and the consultant. Then, analyze the process according to proper group skills and rate the consultant. You may add problem solving to the scenario if you wish.
Support your analysis of group process skills with at least three articles published in peer reviewed journals in the past five years.
