Assignment:Standardized Test -Relevancy

In Unit 2, you selected one standardized test that has relevancy to your academic and professional goal and focused on the first four elements of the Code for selecting a test. In Unit 5, you focused on the fifth element of the Code, which involved analyzing the evidence for technical quality of your selected test.

In Chapters 7 and 8 of your Psychological Testing and Assessment text, you have been learning about test utility, test development, item analysis, and using tests in a variety of settings and with a variety of test takers. In this assignment, you will apply those concepts to your selected test for the Code’s sixth, seventh, and eighth elements. The Code (2004) states that test users, “(6) evaluate representative samples of test questions or practice tests, directions, answer sheets, manuals, and score reports before selecting a test; (7) evaluate procedures and materials used by the test developers, as well as the resulting test, to ensure that potentially offensive content or language is avoided; and (8) select tests with appropriately modified forms or administration procedures for test takes with disabilities who need special accommodations.” Assignment: Standardized Test -Relevancy

For this assignment, locate a minimum of five resources (a minimum three peer-reviewed journal articles) pertaining to your test’s construction, item development, procedures utilized in construction to minimize offensive content, and provisions of modifications and accommodations for test takers. You will not be required or need to have a copy of your test to complete this assignment. You may use many different types of references and sources to obtain this information about your test. These references may include journal articles, literature reviews, Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) reviews, reviews, and publisher Web sites.

Assignment:Standardized Test -Relevancy

Assignment:Standardized Test -Relevancy

Information gathering and evaluation of these elements may require a keyword search within each relevant review and research article. It may be helpful to do keyword searches within those documents with the following words: format, fair, fairness, bias, appropriate, accommodations, modifications, and computer or computer assisted. Subsequently, this particular assignment requires a deeper search and provides a broader range of sources to fulfill the minimum references. In almost all cases, you will be able to locate some level of information on these elements.

If you are struggling with locating sufficient information about a particular test in regard to an element in this assignment, then you will need to cite the references or reviews involved in your search and identify this element as problematic for your selected test as it lacks sufficient documentation in the literature for this code or standard.

DNP 801 Week 8 Discussions GCU

DNP 801 Topic 8 DQ 1

What is the most important skill for success in your doctoral pursuit? Why?

DNP 801 Topic 8 DQ 2

Reflect on the material and assessment given in the course and what you have learned in this course, what aspects of the doctoral pursuit do you find the most challenging? Most rewarding?Things You Should Know Before Pursuing Your Doctoral Degree. … Here are six tips for students to consider before pursuing a doctoral degree. 1—You may need to work hard to stay motivated while pursuing a doctoral degree.

Are you considering the pursuit of a doctoral degree? If so, you are about to embark on a life-changing journey. Being well prepared for those changes can make it easier for you. Here are six tips for students to consider before pursuing a doctoral degree. Assignment: Doctoral Pursuit

1—You may need to work hard to stay motivated while pursuing a doctoral degree.

A challenge you may face while working on a doctoral degree is staying motivated. At some point, often about half way through the process, you could feel alone, uncertain and overwhelmed. In fact, half of all doctoral students leave graduate school without finishing their programs. It is important to develop a good rapport with your university advisors, professors and dissertation chair.

2—Good time management skills are essential.

While pursuing a doctoral degree, learn to effectively manage your time and embrace work-life balance. Despite how busy your life is, you will want to make time for your family and friends. A turning point for successful students in graduate school is when they discover that perfectionism can affect their academic career. Learn to set priorities, and don’t overcommit. The American Psychological Association suggests you find the tools that work best for you when managing your time, and learn to use modern tools that can help you save time.

3—Is it best to begin graduate school immediately, or to wait a while before pursuing a doctoral degree?

According to LiveCareer, students may believe that it is easier to attend graduate school immediately after receiving a bachelor’s degree while their study skills are sharp, and they are accustomed to being a student. However, LiveCareer suggests that students may want to delay pursuing a higher degree for a few years:

To get a broader view of the world that can help make graduate school research more impactful
Choosing whether to continue to graduate school immediately after completing an undergraduate degree, or taking time to work for a while, is something you should consider based on your needs.

4— What is the difference between these two types of degrees: Applied Doctorate versus a PhD?

In a PhD program, you focus your research on contributing new knowledge and theory to the body of knowledge in your field. Applied doctorate programs will focus your research on the practical application of existing knowledge and theory within the field. If you plan to continue your work by implementing your research, the applied doctorate might be the right choice for you. If you plan to contribute to your field through researching and analyzing new theories and solutions, the PhD might be the right choice. In short, the applied doctorate student will focus on the how, while the PhD student will focus on the why. Assignment: Doctoral Pursuit

5—Understand the need to devote a set time to study while pursuing a doctoral degree.

A good tip for doctoral students, particularly those who might decide to pursue a degree through an online program, is to practice self-discipline. Students will most likely need to balance their work, school, and personal life. Take time before embarking on your degree program to explore study tips for students, such as:

Set aside a fixed time to study each day
For every 50 to 60 minutes of study time, take a 10 to 15-minute break
Tackle the most difficult tasks first
Reward yourself
Set realistic goals
Find out when your best study time might be, and use that to your advantage
6—While pursuing a doctoral degree, remember to take care of yourself.

Even though your time may be at a premium while pursuing your doctoral degree, remember to eat well, get plenty of exercise and get enough sleep. Find ways to manage your stress along the way.

So consider these six tips for doctoral students and set your expectations prior to beginning an exciting journey toward a higher degree. Assignment: Doctoral Pursuit

Assignment on The Location of the Organization

The Community Center is located in a suburb called Overtown, in Miami, Florida. It is a subdivision of the city which has been included into the organization and still experiencing a number of parts of necessary team improvements. Public transportation is very efficient in Miami and can be used to get to the facility. At the current location, the center deals with a variety of different backgrounds and races, which seem to be evenly dispersed throughout the overall population. Miami is very diverse and there is generally never one single ethnic group that makes up the majority of our city’s inhabitants (statistics?). The difference in races sometimes plays a role in dictating the services provided by the center. The leading facet that significantly impacts the service to deliver to recipients is the concentration of regions run by a variety of gangs. For example, a variety of residents who reside in an area controlled by a gang greatly evade coming to the center’s place of business because they are fearful of creating conflict or rivalries. The center’s location often becomes a gang’s local hangout for their meetings which can interfere with the center’s purposes. Nevertheless, there is a great deal of security tools put into place to protect the environment whereby an inception of encounters is prohibited either between the gang or security guards.

There are photos a children of different races playing together, photographs of historical places in our city, plants and also pictures of social workers smiling, while they appear to be diligently working with the public. Overall the place is a welcoming environment to all. All the notices and pamphlets are given in multiple languages, such as English, Spanish and French to help assist each family or person. The locals of Miami can professionally relate with the implemented assessment of displays which appear on television screens around the waiting area. They also have some family friendly advertising materials for low income things to do with your children and family and also how tips on how to reduce your medical prescriptions. The entire center has many different diverse filers, posters and other choices and variety of pamphlets to read. Pictorial messages are also personalized to outfit a culturally open and knowledgeable relationship amongst the individuals receiving service and the service center employees. The painting on the main wall of the waiting area where you will see the Director of First Impressions is a picture of a place in Overtown which is the location of the Culmer Community Center. It portrays the obvious problems in the suburb and relays them to the purposes of the Culmer Community Action Center which was placed there to provide services to the community to help better its surroundings and make the city and surrounding areas more self-sufficient. Discussion: BONs and Nursing Associations

Discussion: BONs and Nursing Associations

Question Description
Nursing is a very highly regulated profession. There are over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the United States and its territories. Their existence helps regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. With such numbers, it can be difficult to distinguish between BONs and nursing associations, and overwhelming to consider various benefits and options offered by each.

Both boards of nursing and national nursing associations have significant impacts on the nurse practitioner profession and scope of practice. Understanding these differences helps lend credence to your expertise as a professional. In this Assignment, you will practice the application of such expertise by communicating a comparison of boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. You will also share an analysis of your state board of nursing. Discussion: BONs and Nursing Associations
