You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes. IOM Future of Nursing Essay

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument. IOM Future of Nursing Essay

What is Self-Reflection?

“You know more of a road by having traveled it than by all the conjectures and descriptions in the world.”–William Hazlitt

You can read countless books or watch countless videos about a topic, but there is no replacement for actual experience. Even after experience, there is still learning along the way. Being able to self-reflect at the end of a project, event, experience, or class is the best way to discover what went well, how we are impacted, and what we can change to better ourselves in the future. Nottingham (1998) states it as, “Self-reflection allows one to identify strengths and limitations in specific environments and the individual personality, learning, and behavioral characteristics that influence one’s interactions with others. Other important aspects of self-reflection are the considerations of differing attitudes, beliefs, cultures, ethics, values, and life experiences”. You will be in a career that will benefit from self-reflection, which is one of the best measures to keep getting better at what you do.

You will be looking at six different transferable skills and need to show proficiency in each of those skills, which will be used in courses now and in any type of future career after graduation from Rasmussen College. These skills allow you to better work with those you engage with on a daily basis. You will be required to choose a project/assignment(s) to upload to your portfolio that demonstrates the understanding of at least three of the six transferable skills and include a self-reflection on your proficiency in each skill and how it relates to your future career.

Critical self-analysis allows professionals to identify gaps in knowledge on a subject matter, skills, and competencies. There is tremendous power in critical self-reflection. Critical self-reflection is essential to advance personally and professionally, and it is expected of you as a Rasmussen College graduate as you enter your new profession. Transferable Skills Discussion

Refer to the Transferable Skills Rubrics and the Self-Reflection Rubric to guide your response.

Discussion: Developing a Culture of Evidence-Based Practice

As your EBP skills grow, you may be called upon to share your expertise with others. Explain which dissemination strategies you would be least inclined to use and explain why. Identify at least two barriers you might encounter when using the dissemination strategies you are most inclined to use. Be specific and provide examples. Explain how you might overcome the barriers you identified.

Critical Appraisal of Research

Realtors rely on detailed property appraisals—conducted using appraisal tools—to assign market values to houses and other properties. These values are then presented to buyers and sellers to set prices and initiate offers.Research appraisal is not that different. The critical appraisal process utilizes formal appraisal tools to assess the results of research to determine value to the context at hand. Evidence-based practitioners often present these findings to make the case for specific courses of action. In this Assignment, you will use an appraisal tool to conduct a critical appraisal of published research. You will then present the results of your efforts. To Prepare:Review the Resources and consider the importance of critically appraising research evidence.Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you selected in Module 2 and analyzed in Module 3.Review and download the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template provided in the Resources. The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)Part 4A: Critical Appraisal of ResearchConduct a critical appraisal of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected and analyzed by completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template.Part 4B: Critical Appraisal of ResearchBased on your appraisal, in a 1-2-page critical appraisal, suggest a best practice that emerges from the research you reviewed. Briefly explain the best practice, justifying your proposal with APA citations of the research.
