Assignment on Psychopharmacologic Approaches to Treatment of Psychopathology

Therapy for Patients With Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)Mood disorders can impact every facet of a human being’s life, making the most basic activities difficult for patients and their families. This was the case for 13-year-old Jeanette, who was struggling at home and at school. For more than 8 years, Jeanette suffered from temper tantrums, impulsiveness, inappropriate behavior, difficulty in judgment, and sleep issues. As a PNP working with pediatric patients, you must be able to assess whether these symptoms are caused by psychological, social, or underlying growth and development issues. You must then be able recommend appropriate therapies. This week, as you examine antidepressant therapies, you explore the assessment and treatment of three populations: pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. The focus of your assessment tool, a decision tree, will specifically center on one of the most vulnerable populations, pediatrics. Please remember, you must also consider the ethical and legal implications of these therapies. You will also complete a Quiz on the concepts addressed throughout this module.Learning ObjectivesStudents will:· Assess patient factors and history to develop personalized plans of antidepressant therapy across the lifespan· Analyze factors that influence pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes in pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients requiring antidepressant therapy· Synthesize knowledge of providing care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients presenting for antidepressant therapy· Analyze ethical and legal implications related to prescribing antidepressant therapy to patients across the lifespanLearning ResourcesBaek, J. Children not only present with different signs and symptoms than adult patients with the same disorders, they also metabolize medications much differently. Yet, there may be times when the same psychopharmacologic treatments may be used in both pediatric and adult cases with major depressive disorders. As a result, psychiatric nurse practitioners must exercise caution when prescribing psychotropic medications to these patients. For this Assignment, as you examine the patient case study in this week’s Learning Resources, consider how you might assess and treat pediatric patients presenting with mood disorders. To prepare for this Assignment:· Review this week’s Learning Resources, including the Medication Resources indicated for this week.· Reflect on the psychopharmacologic treatments you might recommend for the assessment and treatment of pediatric patients requiring antidepressant therapy. The Assignment: 5 pagesExamine Case Study: An African American Child Suffering From Depression. You will be asked to make three decisions concerning the medication to prescribe to this patient. Be sure to consider factors that might impact the patient’s pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes. At each decision point, you should evaluate all options before selecting your decision and moving throughout the exercise. Before you make your decision, make sure that you have researched each option and that you evaluate the decision that you will select. Be sure to research each option using the primary literature.Introduction to the case (1 page)· Briefly explain and summarize the case for this Assignment. NURSING ASSIGNMENT- delegation in the workplace

Learning Objectives for this assignment include:Apply the principles of delegation in the healthcare setting.Demonstrate the use of clinical reasoning in prioritizing and evaluating the delivery of client care.Demonstrate principles of collaborative practice within the nursing and healthcare teams fostering mutual respect and shared decision-making to achieve stated outcomes of care. For this discussion, we are going to focus on delegation in the workplace. Read the following scenario, review the2019 Regulations Governing the Practice of Nursing document from the Virginia Board of Nursing, Part VI (pages 20-23. see attachedand then submit your answers the three questions below (Be sure to reference your information source in APA format!) You are working the night shift on a medical unit and have been assigned charge nurse responsibilities. You are working with four RNs, one LPN, and two CNAs (nurse’s aides or care partners).  A patient becomes pulseless and is not breathing, and the nurse assigned to the patient’s care calls a code. The nurse is occupied at this patient’s bedside for 1.5 hours until the patient is stabilized and transferred to the intensive care unit. The nurse also has four other assigned patients. In addition to the nurse assigned to the patient requiring resuscitation, two of the other RNs working on your unit are assisting in the code.(1) During the time of the resuscitation efforts, what tasks could be delegated to the UAP (NCP) in order to help with the care of the patients that are assigned to the three RNs that are involved in the resuscitation?(2) How will you, as the charge nurse, maintain the safety of the other patients on your unit while the three RNs are occupied with the resuscitation efforts?(3) How might effective delegation to other team members contribute to care for the patients on the unit?Your response should be scholarly, between 150 and 200 words for each question, and include at least one peer-reviewed nursing journal article to support your comments. (Your in-text citations and reference should in in correct APA format.) Be sure to use correct grammar and sentence structure.

Health Assessment of the Older Adult

Describe the characteristics of the aging process. Explain how some of the characteristics may lead to elder abuse (memory issues, vulnerability, etc.). Discuss the types of consideration a nurse must be mindful of while performing a health assessment on a geriatric patient as compared to a middle-aged adult.

Health Care Delivery Models and Nursing Practice

2 DQ 2The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) contains many provisions that seek to intertwine the quality of care with the cost of care. Nurses’ education, skills and professional scope make them indispensable contributors to the successful implementation of evolving patient–centred care delivery models. One of the innovative healthcare delivery models is Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). It is a collaboration among primary care clinicians, a hospital, specialists and other health professionals who accept joint responsibility for the quality and cost of care provided to its patients (HPI, n.d.). It is a group of providers that promotes accountability patient population and coordinates items and services under Medicare and encourages investment in infrastructure and redesigned care processes for high quality and efficient service delivery. The largest benefit that accountable care could bring for the healthcare industry is to garner cost savings or reduce spending.  Another major benefit of ACOs is their ability to improve population health management and patient outcomes. A brief from the Center for Health Care Strategies and the Urban Health Research and Practice at Northeastern University shows that new healthcare delivery models like ACOs offer innovative methods for payers and providers to achieve better population health outcomes. Medicaid ACOs, for instance, have shown a greater focus on preventing disease and promoting wellness, which leads to stronger population health improvements. This reduces the likelihood that a disease would progress and lead to more costly hospital stays. The community gains a wide number of advantages including, improved patient outcomes, the better quality of care, greater engagement with providers, and an overall reduction in out-of-pocket costs.Describe one innovative health care delivery model that incorporates an interdisciplinary care delivery team. Explain how this model is advantageous to patient outcomes.Using 200-300 words APA format with at least two references. Sources must be published within the last 5 years.
