Summary Table of Articles & Thesis Assignment

An article summary table is a tool that can help you organize, summarize, and keep track of what you’ve read. Please complete and submit the table below using a minimum of 10 articles from the professional literature (NURSING preferred). Please submit your proposed thesis along with your summary table as a Word doc.

Directions:

1. Review the 10 articles that you found in the Reference List of potential articles assignment. Develop a table, similar to the one below populated with information from the journal articles you anticipate using for your scholarly paper. This may include all 10 of the articles you previously found, or only a few from the original list supplemented with new articles. The table must contain a minimum of 6 articles. Examine the research question, results, etc. of each study. It is recommended that you use the headings in this table, however depending on your topic of research, there may be additional or alternate headings that are more appropriate. 2. What is the question you’re trying to answer?
3. What do you think your thesis statement is now? It does not need to be perfect but should address (based on the evidence) a recommended action (who should be doing what). LOOK FOR THEMES RUNNING THROUGH THIS TABLE! (why you’re developing the table!) Are there common interventions that worked? Similar results? What can you synthesize across these articles? When you step back and look at all the results together, are you noticing any patterns? That should help you develop your thesis statement. Strive to develop a single sentence that conveys the main argument specific to what will be covered in the paper. The statement should answer the questions “how” and “why” and should be based on patterns of evidence presented in your table.
