The field of Informatics can be used to process this data and form recommendations to assist these health care providers. Clinical decision support systems are used to help determine the nature of patients’ disease state, determine a diagnosis, and develop a care plan. For your final project, select and evaluate one of the clinical decision support systems (CDSS) listed on pages 127 (qualitative- CDSS types) and/or 135 (CDSS specific platforms) of your textbook.

Skeletal muscle is made up of relatively large, long cylindrical cells, called muscle fibers. These cells range from 10 to 100 μm in diameter. Some are up to 30 cm long.

Since hundreds of embryonic cells fuse to produce each muscle fiber, the cells (Figure 12.1a and b) are multinucleate; multiple oval nuclei can be seen just beneath the plasma membrane (called the sarcolemma in these cells). The nuclei are pushed peripherally by the longitudinally arranged myofibrils, long, rod-shaped organelles that nearly fill the sarcoplasm, the cytoplasm of the muscle cell. Alternating light (I) and dark (A) bands along the length of the perfectly aligned myofibrils give the muscle fiber its striped appearance.

Electron microscope studies have revealed that the myofibrils are made up of even smaller threadlike structures called myofilaments (Figure 12.1d). The myofilaments are composed largely of two varieties of contractile proteins— actin and myosin—which slide past each other during muscle activity to bring about shortening or contraction of the muscle cells. The actual contractile units of muscle, called sarcomeres, extend from the middle of one I band (its Z disc) to the middle of the next along the length of the myofibrils (Figure 12.1c and d.) Cross sections of the sarcomere in areas where thick and thin filaments overlap show that each thick filament is surrounded by six thin filaments; each thin filament is surrounded by three thick filaments (Figure 12.1e). At each junction of the A and I bands, the sarcolemma indents into the muscle cell, forming a transverse tubule (T tubule). These tubules run deep into the muscle fiber between cross channels, or terminal cisterns, of the elaborate smooth endoplasmic reticulum called the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) (Figure 12.2). Regions where the SR terminal cisterns border a T tubule on each side are called triads.

In your presentation:

  • Dress professionally and present yourself in a professional manner.
  • Display your photo ID at the start of the video when you introduce yourself.
  • Ensure that you do not include any information that violates the principles of HIPAA (i.e., don’t use the patient’s name or any other identifying information).
  • Present the full complex case study. Include chief complaint; history of present illness; any pertinent past psychiatric, substance use, medical, social, family history; most recent mental status exam; current psychiatric diagnosis including differentials that were ruled out; and plan for treatment and management.
  • Report normal diagnostic results as the name of the test and “normal” (rather than specific value). Abnormal results should be reported as a specific value.
  • Be succinct in your presentation, and do not exceed 8 minutes. Specifically address the following for the patient, using your SOAP note as a guide:
    • Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life?

When we look at the effectiveness of professional care that is provided by healthcare professionals such as nurses and doctors compared to the support that is given by the social network of parents that have children facing chronic illness. We see that nurses are more equipped to handle such situations compared to other social networks the parent may have due to the effective training that they have to go through to be certified.

We see that nurses are equipped to be able to determine the spiritual well-being of parents that are faced with the possibility of losing their young ones. Spiritual training is of the essence in the training of healthcare professionals as through this they can decipher the spiritual well-being of parents (Cleary, et, al. 2018). This is done through the use of various tools in the nursing profession that are used to decipher the spiritual well-being of the parents and the steps that they need to take to overcome their predicament.
