Barriers To Evidence-Based Practice

Barriers To Evidence-Based Practice

Post a 100 word response to the below discussion question answer. The original question is also listed below:

Answer: There exists a variety of barriers to the execution of Evidence-Based Practise (EBP), both personal barriers and organisational barriers. Studies have established that both people and organisational factors are linked with barriers to the utilisation of EBP including inadequate time to read literature, too much workload, and employees’ lack of knowledge or experience in using EBP and inadequate resources (Jordan, Bowers, & Morton, 2016). Barriers within the level of the individual professional might include an employee’s attitude, perception, expertise, and practices linked to EBP. Barriers To Evidence-Based Practice

ORDER NOW FOR CUSTOMIZED SOLUTION PAPERS

Organisational barriers can include minimal or lack of managerial support when it comes to the execution of EBP, resistance to change, lack of enough resources, and weak facilitation and support for the execution of EBP (Munten, Bogaard, Cox, & Garretsen, 2010). A national survey that was done on over 1,000 RNs suggested that resistance from nursing leaders and other barriers hinder nurses from implementing EBP, which enhances the outcomes of patients (Munten, Bogaard, Cox, & Garretsen, 2010). Resistance to change that EBP is to bring about, would adversely impact its successful implementation since the clinical employees would do everything possible to sabotage it.

The other barrier to the implementation of EBP is time and knowledge. When clinicians are asked what majority of them need, they often state that time is their number one priority. Lack of enough time is usually cited as a barrier to the implementation of EBP. Moreover, uncertainty or lack of enough knowledge regarding the EBP process is also a barrier, which involves critiquing and evaluating the literature associated to the clinical issue that is being addressed.

Original Question: What are some of the obstacles or barriers to implementing EBP in nursing? Provide a rationale for your answer.  Barriers To Evidence-Based Practice

Assignment: Evidence-Based Capstone Project, Part 6: Disseminating Results

The dissemination of EBP results serves multiple important roles. Sharing results makes the case for your decisions. It also adds to the body of knowledge, which creates opportunities for future practitioners. By presenting results, you also become an advocate for EBP, creating a culture within your organization or beyond that informs, educates, and promotes the effective use of EBP.

Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim

Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs. WK2 Evidence-Based Practice And The Quadruple Aim

ORDER NOW FOR CUSTOMIZED SOLUTION PAPERS

More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decisions.

To Prepare:

  • Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources. Please see attached article
  • Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
  • Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.

To Complete:

Write a brief analysis (no longer than 2 pages) of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.

Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:

  • Patient experience
  • Population health
  • Costs
  • Work life of healthcare providers. WK2 Evidence-Based Practice And The Quadruple Aim

March 21, 2010 was not EBP’s date of birth, but it may be the date the approach “grew up” and left home to take on the world.

When the Affordable Care Act was passed, it came with a requirement of empirical evidence. Research on EBP increased significantly. Application of EBP spread to allied health professions, education, healthcare technology, and more. Health organizations began to adopt and promote EBP.

In this Discussion, you will consider this adoption. You will examine healthcare organization websites and analyze to what extent these organizations use EBP. EBP Discussion Post

This is a great start, and there is not much to add to get to competency.

Well, done on providing a current and relevant to nursing research article that meets all the defined criteria. Score 4.

This is a peer-reviewed journal, within the last 5 years, and relevant to nursing practice. Great job with this!

Thank you for submitting your first submission for this Deliverable for the NUR3643 course. Congratulations on mastery! Please review the feedback and recommendations provided below. I

Great job! Be sure to specifically label your strengths and weaknesses as strengths and weaknesses to add clarity. I was able to determine this from the language, but add for future submissions. Translation Of Evidence Into Nursing Practice

You did an excellent job detailing the summary of the research design. This is an important element in this module. Score 4.

This was a study presented with exceptional detail; I can get a great idea of what was done just be reading your summary.

Unfortunately, a summary specific to how the identified theory defines the four concepts of the nursing metaparadigm was missing from the document you submitted. Score 1.

Keep what you have on the slide and add Roger’s definitions for the 4 concept/metaparadigm, you need to define what the nursing theorist says Person, Health, Nursing, and environment are.

The rubric asks for Clearly stated, detailed description of how the identified theory defines the four concepts of the nursing metaparadigm, including: nursing; environment; person/client; and health.

Unfortunately, a summary specific to the critical appraisal of the identified research study was missing from the document you submitted. Score 1. Oops! What are 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses of the study design? Tell me about the credibility?

Credibility:

So, look at your e-text page 344 (for Quantitative studies) and 357 (Qualitative studies) for examples on how to look at limitations/weakness of study designs

Credibility https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/academic_writing/establishing_arguments/research_and_evidence.html

You shared a basic explanation of the detailed explanation of the relationship between the selected research study, the theory used to guide the study, and an evidence-based practice recommendation that resulted from the research. More detail would better reflect your understanding and application of these principles to the work we do in professional nursing. Score 2.

This area had some nice general discussion, but there could be more detail looking at the theory applied to the research and a practice recommendation was not clear. IF your recommendation is to use the theory, give an example how you would use it.

1.However, on this slide you want to discuss the findings from the research. Example: The study on breastfeeding found that education on breastfeeding prenatally increased the duration of breastfeeding.

  1. Then apply the theory to the research.  Watson’s theory focused on caring and support for the patient and this is able to be applied to the research because the breastfeeding education acts as a form of support for new mothers.  This theory can provide a healing environment for mothers. Translation Of Evidence Into Nursing Practice

  1. Your practice Recommendation

Based on the theory and research discussed, a breastfeeding education session is suggested for all new mothers that choose to breastfeed.

The document you shared reflected a formal style throughout. There were no spelling or grammar errors noted, and APA format was used, when appropriate, in the work you submitted. Great job! Score 4. This was a well-organized, engaging presentation.

It is evident that you put much effort into this final, comprehensive deliverable. I know it is a large and complex assignment. Unfortunately, it will have to be resubmitted as a minimum of 2 must be achieved in each area of the rubric to pass this assignment/course. Please review the above feedback as well as the rubric to ensure you are meeting the full requirements of this assignment. It would be helpful to also revisit module content to fully grasp the concepts that are required to be addressed in this final submission. I look forward to reviewing your next submission. Nurse Manager Vs Nurse Practitioner (2)

Nurse Manager Vs Nurse Practitioner (2)

Post a 3-5 sentence response to the below discussion question answer. Must have citations and with references in apa format:

“Evidence-based practice simply refers to combining research, clinical knowledge, and patient preferences to reach a health care decision – it emphasizes the use of the highest-quality information and deemphasizes the use of customs, opinions, or rituals to make a clinical judgment (DeCapua, 2019).” Because evidence-based practices encompass combining information from many different sources, including quality improvement and research, using the results from this would determine the best treatment for the patient. Because of this, providing care with EBP would be providing the patient with care that is safe, effective, and compassionate.

Nursing Managers, on the other hand, play a major role in a unit-based culture in which nursing practice is guided by evidence (Fisher & Sheeron, 2014). The role of the nurse manager is to encourage and support the clinical nurses working on the floor and develop a spirit of inquiry, seek answers to their clinical questions using EBP, and advance their clinical performance to improve patient outcomes (Caramanica & Spiva, 2018). This can be difficult as nurse managers still have to be able to perform their role responsibilities and attend to the demands of the unit while still supporting their nurses. Today, I believe that the role of the nurse manager in supporting evidence-based practice is under used and largely passive. If nurse managers were given the opportunity to support their clinical nursing staff as they were meant to be, I believe the results could be more fruitful, which would lead to nurses with stronger critical thinking skills and patients who receive high quality EBP patient care.
