80-year-old man with a medical history of high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic back pain and etoh abuse, presented to ER level one c/o right hip pain and right shoulder pain after having a MV Accident 24 hours after intoxication. He has experienced increasingly isolated behaviors after his wife dying from breast cancer 6 months ago. He states life has changed for him since the death of his spouse of 40 years. Denies any present tobacco or drug use but drinks a pint of whisky a day for the last 6 months. He also complained of insomnia and depression. After a complete workup in the ER, labs noted patient had an elevated etoh level of 0.10, X ray of the hip showed a right acetabulum fracture and a right clavicle fracture. He walked away from his car after hitting a tree because he did not want to get arrested.
