This Assignment includes ten different pediatric cases that require further evaluation with a developmental testing tool. Selecting the correct tool is vitally important in getting accurate data that promotes early identification and intervention. A template is available to you as an Excel spreadsheet in Course Documents, and is specifically designed for this Assignment.

After you have selected the standardized developmental testing tool that is appropriate for each of the following cases, address the following:

  • Does the tool measure the domain(s) of concern?
  • Is the tool “age appropriate?”
  • Does the tool address cultural considerations?
  • Who is to administer the test?
  • Is the reliability and validity of the tool acceptable? How did you assess these measurements?
  • How much time is involved in using the tool?
  • Is the language of the tool applicable to the patient and family?
  1. Think of a surprising or challenging practice situation in which you felt underprepared, unprepared, or uncomfortable.
  2. Select an important nursing issue/topic that was inherent to the identified situation.
  3. As a method of refection, use Carper’s Patterns of Knowing to analyze the situation. In a two- to three-page paper address the following:

  8. What was one personal belief that impacted your actions? (Ethics)
  9. What evidence in nursing literature supports the nursing importance of the identified issue? (Empirical)

  11. Length:
    1. The paper (excluding the title page and reference page) should be at least two but no more than three pages.  
  12. A minimum of two (2) scholarly literature sources must be used.

  7. Ideas and information that come from scholarly literature must be cited and referenced correctly.
  8. A minimum of two (2) scholarly literature sources must be used.
