NURS 6003 Part 3 Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics Template
I examined the connection between academic integrity and writing, as well as the connection between professional practices and scholarly ethics. Additionally, I have identified strategies for maintaining the integrity and ethics of my academic work while enrolled in the MSN program, as well as my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. The outcome of these efforts is included below.

NURS 6003 Part 3:Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics
Part 1: An Example of Academic and Professional Integrity
Academic integrity is critical to the learning process’s success. Academic integrity is an integral part of the educational process. It enables an individual to develop an innate sense of honesty and dependability when engaging in various activities. Academic integrity and writing are inextricably linked. Academic writing frequently becomes a challenge during the course of learning or while enrolled in a course due to the stages and procedures that must be followed. Academic writing requires an individual to build on the work of others while remaining original (Walden University Academic Skills Center, n.d). In other words, the entire writing process requires an individual to generate something unique. Academic integrity is frequently observed during the writing process when the author or writer uses the work, ideas, or words of another person. The aforementioned scenario enables an individual to uphold the discipline standard and the institution they represent. Thus, academic integrity should be observed throughout the writing process to ensure the work’s authenticity and legitimacy (Walden University Academic Skills Center, n.d). On the other hand, professional conduct and scholarly ethics are inextricably linked. Scholarly ethics should always be applied to various professional practices to ensure the work is done with the utmost integrity. To maintain a high level of professionalism, individuals must always adhere to scholarly ethics
Scholarly ethics refers to the total set of implicit and explicit professional characteristics and standards that describe an ethical scholarly community. A scholarly community often bases the definition of scholarly ethics in the integrity and whatever creates value in the educational process. High level of professionalism or professional practices adheres to the scholarly ethics. Professional practices often require adherence to the ethical principles that guides the activities being undertaken (Glasper, 2016). The ethical principles are related to the scholarly ethics.
Grammarly, Safe Assign, and paraphrasing contributes to academic integrity in various ways. Grammarly often ensures that there is a proper application of phrases that are in line with the writing standards. Scholarly ethics often require the application of the best practices in the writing process. Adhering to the effective writing process characterized by the standardized format is part of the academic integrity (Glasper, 2016). Paraphrasing, on the other hand, leads to originality in the writing process; it thus prevents plagiarism, a scenario that contributes to high level of academic integrity. Also, SafeAssign prevents the cases of unnecessary plagiarism, a scenario that leads to ethics in the writing process and eventual academic integrity in the wring process. NURS 6003 Part 3:Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics
PART 2: Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work
Maintaining integrity and ethics in the educational process requires the application of different strategies. Integrity and ethical practices are essential parts of professionalism. In the educational processes, learners have to adhere to the ethical practices to enhance their integrity, not only in the educational programs, but also in the future work process. Academic integrity refers to the commitment to honesty and moral behaviors in the academic practices. In the writing process, it is necessary to provide credit the work of other people whenever their thoughts or works are used in the writing process. In other words, it is necessary to acknowledge other people’s ideas when they are used in the writing process. Academic integrity is relevant at the university level as it relates to giving credit to other people of professionals when applying their ideas. From the ideas given in part one, to maintain high level of integrity and ethics, there is always the need to adhere to the originality of the work. In other words, there is the need to become creative in the writing process to avoid copying other people’s ideas without acknowledging them.
To maintain integrity and ethics in the writing process, I would ensure that the expectations of the work are well communicated including the citations and other forms of information required to ensure integrity and ethical practices. Producing original work free
from plagiarism and grammatical mistakes in the MSN program requires elaborate planning since procrastination and lack of enough time often lead to the temptation to engage in cheating. Therefore, planning is critical in ensuring the production of original work that is free from plagiarism. Another strategy that I would employ in the MSN program is to maintain integrity and ethics in the scholarly work is the involvement of the smart decision such as engaging in doing personal work, diligently and persistently studying for examinations, and preparing effectively before engaging in writing personal essays. As a professional nurse, throughout my career, I intend to embrace research and to maintain ethical practices to ensure integrity in the operational processes. As a student I intend to use Grammarly, plagiarism checker, as well as credible sources of information. The above resources will enhance the originality of my work ensuring the integrity in academic processes. As a professional, I intend to adhere to the professional practices; I also intend to employ the required ethical standard to ensure effective treatment outcome.

Quiz: APA Style and Format
As a nurse embarking on an advanced degree, you are developing the characteristics of a scholar-practitioner, which include strong communication skills. Writing in a scholarly manner involves supporting your thoughts with evidence from the literature and appropriately using APA formatting.
One of the challenges of scholarly writing is paraphrasing the thoughts of others in your work. Paraphrasing, and correctly citing the original author for his or her ideas, allows you to take the ideas of others, summarize them, and incorporate them into your own writing. When summarizing the ideas of others, it is important to avoid plagiarizing (i.e., copying the words and ideas of others as though they were your own). In addition to expanding your knowledge of APA Style, this modules’s Learning Resources help you distinguish between paraphrasing and plagiarizing.
This Quiz will help you determine how your understanding of these concepts and prepardness to reflect them in your work. The questions presented on the Quiz are derived from the Resources related to APA writing standards, plagiarism, and academic integrity.
