NURS 6501 WU Wk 2 Advanced Pathophysiology Adenocarcinoma of The Colon Case Study

A 65-year-old obese African American male patient presents to his HCP with crampy left lower quadrant pain, constipation, and fevers to 101˚ F. He has had multiple episodes like this one over the past 15 years and they always responded to bowel rest and oral antibiotics. He has refused to have the recommended colonoscopy even with his history of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (diverticulitis), sedentary lifestyle, and diet lacking in fiber. His paternal grandfather died of colon cancer back in the 1950s as well. He finally underwent colonoscopy after his acute diverticulitis resolved. Colonoscopy revealed multiple polyps that were retrieved, and the pathology was positive for adenocarcinoma of the colon.  NURS 6501 WU Wk 2 Advanced Pathophysiology Adenocarcinoma of The Colon Case Study

Review Points to Remember about Assignments / Work / Discussions

The College of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references.

  • Remember this is an ADVANCED PATHOPHYSIOLOGY course so you must address the content at the cellular level. This is a requirement in this course.
  • Make sure that all your work is submitted in APA format
    • Review proper quotes, paraphrasing
    • You MUST avoid plagiarism and be sure that you are giving credit to those who provided you the information. If it’s a quote, then quote it!!
  • You must develop your paragraphs well, 5-6 sentences each with citations – at this point in your academic career.
  • READ the instructions and make sure that you are addressing each of the asked for components and place headings to make it obvious to the reader
  • READ the rubric – you must have references to get the points and if you don’t have the references you also loose points for analysis and synthesis because you can’t do this without validated content.
  • Review your SAFEASSIGN percentage – if it is high, then rework the information that is highlighted. I can see if it is due to the references, but the body of the information should be new/fresh and yours.
    • If your SafeAssign percentage is high related to the meat of the assignment, then you could receive a zero.
    • Self-plagiarism – using work that you created for other courses and submitting again for this course.
    • Not giving credit – when you write you will basically have citations at the end of each sentence until you get more adept at this process. If you do not cite work and therefore presenting information that you learned from someone else as your own, this is plagiarism. ORDER  A PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER  NOW

1-provide a purpose statement and to use different/additional resources to help to avoid plagiarism/high safeassign percentages.  When you search for information don’t just pick the first couple of things that come up on the search as this is what many students do so everyone is using the same references.

2-make sure you are using headings so that the content is clear.  Don’t forget that your paper must be in APA format, paragraphs developed, 5-6 sentences each with citations, make sure that your first paragraph has a clear purpose statement in your introduction, and review the rubric so you are clear about the expectations.

3-REFERENCES:  Also when it comes to references, I expect a minimum of 3 references in your initial post and a minimum of 2 references in your peer post.  This is what provides validity to your work and helps to develop evidence-based practice habits.   In addition, for papers, you should provide a minimum of 5 references. When it comes to your KC answers, I think you should know where you got the information so that you can go back and study your material for your exams.  So, it is helpful to cite this material as well.  However, citations are not required.

4-You will be writing a 1-2 page paper in APA format.  This paper must contain a title page, an introduction, a purpose statement, body, and conclusion – all with appropriate citations and references.  The title page and reference page(s) do not count in your total of 1-2 pages.  PLEASE review the rubric as well – it will guide you on the needed number of references, formatting, etc. NURS 6501 WU Wk 2 Advanced Pathophysiology Adenocarcinoma of The Colon Case Study
