TASK

Write an essay (4-5 pages, NOT including your Works Cited Page) in which you pretend you are a person with the psychological disorder you have selected, and you are at your appointment with a psychologist. Your essay should be creative! The point is NOT to simply explain a list of symptoms, it is to apply it. You should demonstrate that you understand what the world is like to someone with this specific disorder. Address the following points:

  • Describe your typical day, thoughts, habits, behaviors, etc., that have brought you to seek treatment.
  • Discuss how at least three distinct symptoms of this disorder affect you. In other words, how do the symptoms change your life?
  • Explain how this disorder affects your relationships family, marital, work, etc.
  • Given the many different schools of psychological thought and practice and treatment options, which do you think is best suited for your disorder? Justify your answer and describe the therapy your psychologist has identified as a treatment.

You MUST provide citations and references throughout your paper when discussing your disorder, symptoms, and treatments. Your citations must come from a Peer-Reviewed Journal Article (a minimum of 1 journal), your textbook, and the websites provided above.
