What considerations should be taken into consideration when developing the program, such as the physical and social environment?

Health Care and Its Related Issues

There are several ways to measure the health status of a community or an entire population. In order to understand the implications of legal and regulatory policies in health care promotion and wellness, it is mandatory to analyze the impact of the social needs of local populations on their health care issues.

Based on your understanding of the topic, create a report in a Microsoft Word document answering the following questions:

· What are the benefits measuring the health status of individuals aged fifteen to sixty four years in a particular community or an entire population? What effect do these benefits have on the health status of the community or the entire population?

· Which one health statistic has had the most significant impact on the health care profession in the entire US or your community in the last year? Discuss.

· Identify one major local social issue currently being addressed by the local elected officials (major, governor, or town council).

· What ramifications does this issue have on the local population?

· Does this issue have any legal impact on the community? Why or why not?

For a successful health status of a community, school health is critical to our future. How can we incorporate a program within the school focusing on the safety and well-being of students along with the social needs and health care issues?

· If you are asked to develop a school health policy for an elementary school, who would be the stakeholders in this process?

· What types of resources will you need to develop a program?

· How will the focus of the program target health promotion or wellness?

· What considerations should be taken into consideration when developing the program, such as the physical and social environment?

· What factors are taken into consideration when developing a program targeting elementary school age children versus adult?

· What anticipated or perceived objections would you expect?

· As we continue to move in the twenty first century, what elementary school health or safety issues are emerging?

How would services provided be reimbursed either by private insurance or Medicare/Medicaid?

Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

How healthcare services are provided is constantly changing.  While historically, emergency departments (ED) was physically located within the hospital building, the standalone Emergency Department also referred to as the Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) has become a new model for delivery of emergency services within communities.   Consider yourself in the role of a consultant to a healthcare organization, financial manager, or ED administrative director. You have been asked to provide the CEO and leadership with pros and cons of establishing a Free Standing Emergency Department.  You are aware of the news stories about these types of facilities, and you will want to review The Washington Post article at this link as you prepare your review.

Include in your discussion:

  • Differences between off campus emergency departments (OCEDs) and independent free standing emergency centers (IFECs).  What would be the advantage to the healthcare organization of an OCED?
  • How would services provided be reimbursed either by private insurance or Medicare/Medicaid?
  • What are the advantages or disadvantages to the community of an FSED?  Would members of the community favor an OCED or an IFEC?
  • Why are most of the FSEDs located in Texas, Colorado and Ohio?
  • Based on your research and the news stories about FSEDs, what would you recommend to the CEO and Board of Directors?

NOTE: Use at least two scholarly references and cite using APA format.

What role should the individual staff member have to motivate himself or herself instead of relying on a manager?

Leadership Styles

There are many articles and books written about the differences between managers and leaders. Leaders are visionary, influential in positive ways, value their teams, support their growth, and empower their staff. Leaders who are positive in their actions coach, delegate, and share recognition. Read the following scenarios and answer the questions given in each scenario.

Based on what you learned about leadership styles, describe events examining how your selected leader worked by certain principles. In addition, report details of an event demonstrating how you were led to perform.

On the basis of the above scenario, answer the following questions:

· What style did the leader exhibit? Describe events pointing out how your selected leader worked by certain principles.

· Report details of the scenario demonstrating how you were led to perform.

· How did you improve your overall attitude and motivation based on a supportive leader in the workplace?

· Positive influence can help team members develop their skills and knowledge. Do you agree to this statement? Why and how?

· What leadership skills will you take from your positive experience and use when you are in a leadership position?

Scenario B

Would conducting more studies, such as the current investigation, add to your understanding and the efficacy of acupuncture for chronic back pain?

Physiological and Psychological Healing through CAM

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese technique for curing various chronic pains. It has also been used as anesthesia for surgery and for curing postoperative nausea.

Using South University Online Library, search the article, “A randomized trial comparing acupuncture, simulated acupuncture, and usual care for chronic low back pain.”

On the basis of your research and understanding of the topic, summarize your thoughts and answer to the following questions:

· The study concludes that both real acupuncture and sham acupuncture are more effective than usual care for chronic back pain. This could be due to either the physiological stimulus provided by acupuncture needling or certain nonspecific effects, such as the therapist’s conviction and the patient’s enthusiasm for the treatment. Do you think that this study supports a combined model of treatment where both physical and psychological stimuli are used to cure chronic back pain? Why or why not?

· What are the shortcomings of this study? Would conducting more studies, such as the current investigation, add to your understanding and the efficacy of acupuncture for chronic back pain?

· Even in the absence of support for acupuncture, how does this article contribute to the study of CAM and our understanding of CAM research practices?

· What is your opinion on the modality discussed in the article? Do you see any outstanding benefits or detractions from the therapy’s use in contemporary wellness environments?

Combine your responses in a Microsoft Word document. Your responses should be 4- to 5-pages long.

Support your responses with reasoning and examples.
