You have already identified many resources in your network—in this class and outside the university—and within the wider Walden community. Support is best used when you know what you need; it is hard to get support in building a ladder if you do not know what a ladder looks like.

If you have an idea of what a ladder looks like, you can ask for rungs and nails and a hammer. Think of the resources offered by Walden as the rungs and nails for your ladder, but you are the one who must design the ladder. A PDP allows you to design your ladder and identify which supports you need to build it.

Remember that you must help your classmates and colleagues along the way with their ladders too. Think of what you need to give, as well as what you will need to receive, in terms of support and help.

A PDP explains how you, individually, came to the decision to begin your graduate studies, what you envision for yourself and others when you complete the degree, and what objectives or steps you need to define in order to realize your dream and become your previously envisioned “future self.” You will refer to your PDP when you want to check your progress or re-evaluate your goals. It should be motivating and related to the mission of Walden, your mission, and the community of your colleagues. Remember, we are all in this together.

PowerPoint presentations will be used in many of your courses at Walden. This Assignment will also provide an opportunity for you to become familiar with, or become a more advanced user of, PowerPoint as a communication tool.

NOTE: You are strongly encouraged to submit this Assignment as a PowerPoint presentation, but if you are having difficulty with the software, you may submit it as a Word document with sufficient notes to explain each “slide.” Please feel free to contact your Instructor if you need any support with this Assignment.

The PDP should incorporate elements within your specific Program Tab and must address the following:

1. Where have you been in your life personally and professionally that has brought you to this point? In my life personally I have obtained a Bachelors in Social Work and I have worked in the different mental health fields I have started working in the Criminal Justice field and  I work as a drug and alcohol counselor at a prison,
2. What is your motivation in choosing this career; why did you choose this profession and aspiration? My motivation in choosing this career is to help  individuals over come their addiction
3. How do your personal and professional community factor in to the realization of your aspirations—what support mechanisms do you have in place to help you meet your goals?
4. What are the things you foresee that might get in the way of your plan, and how will you overcome them as well as help others overcome theirs?
5. Share about your future self. Where do you want to go professionally, and how will you leverage your Walden experience to become this person? What is the best advice you would give yourself now from the point of success when you finish?

Make use of the Notes section within PowerPoint to provide the details of your presentation.

Your presentation should be explicit in its detail about what you plan to do at Walden to meet your personal and professional goals.

Assignment 2: Organizational Development Intervention Research Report

Organizational development (OD) interventions are generally described as planned change processes that take into account both technical and human psychology aspects of the organization. Interventions are defined in your readings within four categories: human process interventions, techno-structural interventions, human resource management (HRM) interventions, and strategic change interventions. For this assignment, you will analyze two interventions and offer your recommendations in a 3- to 5-page report.

Directions:

In 3 to 5 pages:

1. Using the Argosy University online library resources, identify a category of organizational development (OD) interventions that is of particular interest to you for research.
2. Identify and explain two interventions conducted in organizations between 1990 and the present year within your category of interest along with the results. Be sure to find interventions representing different time periods and industries.
3. Explain both technical and psychological aspects of the two interventions.
4. Identify the issues, processes, theories, and business outcomes of the interventions.
5. As an organizational development (OD) practitioner, recommend one improvement that would now be appropriate for the organization to consider in an effort to continuously improve. Justify your recommendations.

Your final product will be in a Microsoft Word document of approximately 3 to 5 pages. You will utilize two to four scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Assignment: Piaget

Sometimes, a theory or paradigm can be thought of as a lens through which a topic is examined. Theories or paradigm shifts may cast other ways of thinking aside, or they may layer upon one another. In the case of Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, whose ideas still “permeate research on cognitive development that his influence typically is not even noticed or acknowledged,” he is still very much a giant in the field, frequently even known by laypersons with only a glancing knowledge of cognitive development (Miller, 2010). Subsequent research has applied, tested, and supplemented Piaget’s theory, particularly his concept of stages of development and related questions about domain-specific and general knowledge or quantitative and qualitative cognitive changes, to name just a few threads of inquiry.

Work continues on testing, refining, and finding new applications for Piagetian theory, and scientists often implement larger sample sizes and more technologically advanced methods than Piaget used or had available to him. For this Assignment, you examine some children’s behavior much the same way that Piaget might have done, using a small sample and carefully observing the behavior demonstrated. You will then justify how Piaget would have explained the behavior.

To prepare:

· Watch each of the four cognitive development examples in this week’s Learning Resources and decide which Piagetian concepts are depicted in each video.

The Assignment (2 pages):

· After watching each video, explain whether each child’s response to the tasks follows Piaget’s predictions. How would Piaget explain each child’s demonstrated behavior? Use Piaget’s terms and provide definitions or explanations of those terms. Explain any recent developments in the theoretical literature that might account for the children’s demonstrated behavior.
