Physical Signs of Child Abuse Evidenced Based Nursing Paper

  1. Using a PIO (population/intervention/outcome) or PICO (population/intervention/comparison/outcome), ask a practice-based question. With this question in mind, search the literature for evidence to answer your inquiry. You must have at least 3 research articles to analyze.
  2. At the completion of your search, review the most relevant articles (at least 3) to evaluate the evidence for your practice problem. Write up a short narrative summary of each research article including the purpose, sample, design, procedure and findings (DO NOT COPY AND PASTE FROM THE ARTICLE). Discuss the level of evidence. http://www.ajan.com.au/Vol33/Issue3/5Broomfield.pd…
  3. Apply the evidence: Discuss how the findings from the research. How can these findings be applied to the area of practice or as an intervention? What can the nurse do to improve current practice regarding this issue in the clinical environment? What are the barriers or obstacles to applying the findings to practice?
  4. You will write up your findings including the following:
    1. Briefly discuss topic area
    2. Ask the PIO or PICO question for your area of concern
    3. Critically analyze the evidence/literature – (you should have at least 3 references to review).DO NOT USE A TABLE FORMAT – MUST BE NARRATIVE.
    4. Apply the evidence: What are the nursing implications? See #4 above)
    5. References
    6. Approximately 7-10 pages (body of paper). In your text book there are many examples ofevidence based practice applications (See page 261 and 282 for examples). RUBRIC

stand as proof of my commitment. Hopefully, this will take me to the next step in my career. During the past few years I have built a start to a Certification in Gerontology that hopefully will be offered to students in the RN to BSN program someday. As of now there are two classes that I have created from scratch- Fundamentals of Gerontology and End-of-Life or Palliative Nursing Care. Eventually I would like to add two more classes (at least) and offer students a certification in Gerontology upon successful completion of the classes. Also in the works is the idea of getting either another Masters or Doctorate in Gerontology so as to increase my ability to build a credible program within the School of Nursing at MDC. Some other plans that are in the works: Certification in Nursing Education (CNE)- Research projects in “Write around technique to alleviate plagiarism use” and “Fluid balance charting as a training technique” to be conducted at MDC. Also, several papers are in the works, at different stages, including Multidrug Resistant Organisms and their role in Nursing Homes” that was recently presented at the 8th Interprofessional Geriatric Training Symposium at Nova Southeastern University (May, 2015}. Also, after taking care of a patient that had Mantle Cell Lymphoma, I became very interested in the disease and the care of individuals with this normally fatal disorder. Lastly, my old favorite that I studied while getting my doctorate, the problem with convincing people the benefit of the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine. Skin Wounds Care Treatment & Management In Healthcare

Skin Wounds Care Treatment & Management In Healthcare

Skin wounds are sometimes challenging for health care providers to diagnose and treat as many have similar presentations. For advanced practice nurses, being able to identify various types of skin wounds, including whether a wound is a colonization or an infection, is critical because it impacts recommended patient care. In your role, you must be able to evaluate skin wounds, determine the diagnosis, and develop an appropriate treatment and management plan according to current evidence-based guidelines.

To prepare:

  • Review Chapter 46 of the Resnick text, as well as the Burr article in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Consider how to properly diagnose skin wounds in frail elders, including how to distinguish between a colonization and infection.
  • Select a type of skin wound, such as bumps, bruises, shingles, herpes, bullous pemphigoid, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, etc. Research the guidelines for treatment of the skin wound you selected. Reflect on how you would treat and/or dress this wound.
  • Think about factors that might contribute to the development of the skin wound you selected. Consider strategies for the prevention and improvement of this type of wound.

Parental Obesity and Children Obesity Discussion

Parental Obesity and Children Obesity Discussion

INSTRUCTIONS

please come up with 3 PICOT questions regarding the topic of parental obesity and the correlation with children obesity.

PICOT is an acronym used to help develop clinical research questions and guide you in your search for evidence:

= Patient population

= Intervention or issue of interest

= Comparison of interventions or comparison of interests

= Outcome

= Time frame

For example, you may wish to research the effects of interrupted sleep on cognition of ICU patients 65 or older.

Using this PICOT model,

In _________(P), how does __________ (I) compared to _________ (C) influence _________ (O) over ________ (T)?

In ICU patients who are 65 or older, how does interrupted sleep (awakened one time or more in four hours) as compared to uninterrupted sleep influence the patient’s cognitive ability over 5 days?

Assignment Directions

Begin by selecting a topic in nursing or medicine that is of interest to you. Next, use PICOT to format possible research questions about that topic. Provide 3 possible PICOT research questions.

Include the following:

  • Title page
  • Provide a brief description of the topic and background information.
  • Explain the significance of the topic to nursing practice.
  • Provide 3 clearly stated PICOT questions.

Need response to discussion questions with reference and follow up with 3 discussions comments with reference.

NUR 699 GC Week 2 Discussion 1

Review the “General Appraisal Overview for All Studies,” available in Appendix B in the textbook. You should save this tool and use it throughout the development of the PICOT question, problem description, and literature review.

Begin the development of your PICOT question, using the following resources:

  1. “Appendix A: Template for Asking Clinical Questions,” available in the textbook appendix
  2. Text readings

Formulate your PICOT question and post it to the main forum. Respond to at least four other statements, providing feedback. Review the statements to see if the clinical issue is clearly defined and that all aspects are identified. Also refer to the “PICOT: Components of an Answerable, Searchable Question” table, located in chapter 2 of the text. If one PICOT statement has at least three feedback posts, move to another statement.

You will be using the feedback to make revisions to your PICOT question before using it in your “Section B: Problem Description” assignment.

NUR 699 GC Week 2 Discussion 2

What strategies will you use in your new practice as an advance practice nurse to review and critique literature pertinent to your practice?

NUR 699 GC Week 3 Discussion 1

What levels of evidence are present in relation to research and practice, and why it is important regardless of the method you use?

NUR 699 GC Week 3 Discussion 2

What factors must be assessed when critically appraising quantitative studies (e.g., validity, reliability, and applicability)? Which is the most important? Why?

NUR 699 GC Week 4 Discussion 1

What are some of the obstacles or barriers to implementing EBP in nursing? Provide a rationale for your answer. Since there are numerous topics on the issue, it is not appropriate to repeat one that has already been mentioned unless providing new information.

NUR 699 GC Week 4 Discussion 2

Conducting research projects while ensuring the protection of human subjects is necessary. What are some methods to protect personal rights of someone in one of the groups that is labeled as vulnerable? Justify your rationale.

NUR 699 GC Week 5 Discussion 1

Why is it important to incorporate a theory or model related to change when implementing practice changes? Does the benefit of incorporating a change model outweigh the time and effort it took to include it?

NUR 699 GC Week 5 Discussion 2

Identify barriers to the implementation of evidence-based practice. What are two ways to address this problem?

NUR 699 GC Week 6 Discussion 1

When reviewing the literature and different types of evidence, there are often gaps in the findings. Are such gaps a help or a hindrance when wanting to create a change?

NUR 699 GC Week 6 Discussion 2

What is the difference between statistically significant evidence and clinically significant evidence? How would each of these findings be used to advance an evidenced-based project?

NUR 699 GC Week 7 Discussion

Research and EBP projects can be communicated in many ways. Which method do you think is most effective to get to the staff nurse level? To the advance practice nurses? How will you ensure that all appropriate audiences receive your information?
