They also use other valuable tools such as social media, brochures, and press releases to promote their health initiatives and keep the community informed of any pending health crises. This week, you will create promotional materials for one of the health initiatives that you selected in the Discussion.

State Initiative

Iowa Health and Wellness Plan “provides comprehensive health care coverage to low income adults” (Iowa Department of Human Services, 2015) from ages 19-64. The plan refers to one plan that also has two separate coverage plans. All members of the program are covered for the same type of health benefits, however medical care is completely different for each program. The initiative shifts from the individual to population health with easing the burden of the cost of healthcare by making it more affordable for those who cannot afford it or have the option through their employer. Many could face the hardship of not being qualified for the program and have limited options or pay more in coverages.

Federal Initiative

Technology in todays’ age has nearly made it impossible to get majority of people to stay active. According to (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2015.) Physical activity is key to improving the health of the Nation. Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans is an essential resource for health professionals and policy makers that provides recommendations on how everyone can improve their health through regular physical activity. The primary idea behind the Guidelines is that regular physical activity over months and years can produce long-term health benefits. These guidelines help promote and teach both adolescence and adults on options to improve their health by participating in physical activities. This initiative has been shifted from the focus of the individual to population health creating guidelines for all ages to participate.
